This is scary. Unless we get this under control, the cycle will continue.
Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted and beaten.

How can there ever be an end to this if 56% of children who witness domestic violence will themselves either be the batter, or battered? How can our children grow up to be all they can be if 62% of these children can't function properly in school due to domestic abuse?
Well,im one of the children who witnessed domestic violence, the whole:
"62% of children who have difficulties in school, including problems with concentration, poor academic performance, difficulty with peer interactions witnessed or experienced domestic violence.
37% of the above children, have cognitive or language problems, developmental delays, stress related physical ailments, and hearing and speech problems as toddlers."
^^this stuff is true, you go blank pretty much and live in fantasy land to ignore all the crap happening. But I also hate the people who were doing the abusing as I got older so haven't gotten into the situation myself and is being very cautious and protective about that stuff happening to my nieces since they witnessed my sister being beaten and threatened with death awhile back, shes still with him.It depends on the person if they follow what they've been through in there own footsteps when they get older.Basically they have to wake up and face the reality that it did happen and come to the conclusion that it is wrong.
Oh also theres too much focus on everything being a pretty bed of roses so thats also a problem with it.Kids who KNOW its not always that great in one way or another, will be more likely to sarcastically laugh at the positive crap teachers, conselors, etc. try to feed them. They need a "prove it" and even then will still be doubtful because it IS a lie,you can work your ass off relentlessly and still get nowhere or knocked right back down.
You missed my point - again. You get so wrapped up in defending male rights that you lose focus on what it means.
I wasn't trying to prove that men are "bad". My concern is for our future and our children. It's irrelevant as to which parent does it, it's wrong no matter which party is at fault.
My point was at the end when I asked the questions: "How can there ever be an end to this if 56% of children who witness domestic violence will themselves either be the batter, or battered? How can our children grow up to be all they can be if 62% of these children can't function properly in school due to domestic abuse?"
Tiamat, you're a very strong person. Most people grow up to be, well, you said your sister is still with him. I've heard people say before that the kids don't know, they don't pay attention. But, that's absolutely wrong. Even babies can feel the vibration and tension, which voilence breaks out in their home. I can't an end in sight, if we continue to allow this to happen children are in the scenerio.
I know my son, whom you know was a battered and neglected child and he suffered much the same as the study said, and what you have experienced. Yet, he was a bright child and could have performed much better in school. It tears me apart when I see this happening to the children. I just my lucky stars everyday that I didn't witness this as a youth. My parents never abused each other, or us, in any way. I can't even imagine how horrendous it must have been for you. But, now that you're an adult and see clearly, you've used it to make yourself a better person, rather than fall prey. That says alot for your character and maturity.
I've been astonished at how little commentary there's been on left-leaning blogs and web sites in recent days concerning the worldwide protests, riots, and fires stemming from the printing of (originally) a handful of European newspaper cartoons that some
