I have interest in learning languages, first i was interested in learning Nihongo but then i realized it was too complicated self studying Japanese language, then i switched to Korean language and it was way easier! I was really inspired and was passionate to it! 🙂 So when I moved here in Norway, i was not interested at all in learning another language.

I just had an intensive Norsk course and today was the last day for part 1 level B1 (they have A1,A2,B1,B2). I will be 3 years here on September and my learning of the language was not continuous. There were many variables that made me unfocused (like the host family i lived with speaks English to me for immediate understanding , I am not so sure if i will settle here so i get confuse if i should be serious in it, also i have not socialized much because i rather stay at home, etc.) I started to really get interested when i took A2 course. Even though I felt so stupid in class and seems everyone is so good at it i really want to be better at it. I do understand the logic but then i easily get confused and messed up when i exercised it. Also i really suck at grammar.. you can surely see it here now. 😄

Unfortunately, there was an unexpected changed to make. My husband and I decided for me to stay at his parents in Germany next month. My momentum of learning will be cut off again, this is the reason why I was not able to progress well in the first place. Once i will be in Germany i will also learn Deutsch in order to communicate to his parents (they cannot speak English, but i am so lucky how welcoming they are to me). I still want to learn Norsk since there is a possibility my husband can get a job in Norway. So my dilemma is, is it possible to learn 2 languages or should i just focus on Deutsch for now? If learning both is fine.. can you please give me an advice or more on how to learn it effectively? Thanks!

Languages take a long time, I would advise you to stick to German since your going to Germany and you could learn it faster
It's much faster that way, I just wish it was the same for with me learning French 🙂)
Although i know romanian, hungarian, english, a bit of german and a bit of French
It sucks when your learning a language on your own but you can't visit a country or something where they speak it

Thanks, I will maybe just focus in german language once i am in the country and will still try to contact my friends here in Norway via norsk so i will not forget what i have learned.

Have you thought about writing a journal exclusively to the language you are learning? Like maybe having one or two journals where you only write those specific languages may help. I do this. Just put words down in that language and express how you are feeling that particular day. Even if it would read something like " today apple feel good", you'll get better and form complete coherent sentences eventually. I'm studying Japanese now days and I think also being patient and simply falling in love with the language helps. Get in love* with how the language you are learning sounds. Also, say and write down the words and don't think of it translated but the image or meaning that it represents instead.

I totally agree. Falling in love will make it easier like when i was learning Korean language. They say German is more complicated than Norsk so good luck to me. Yes, i love making journals. I could definitely do that! Thanks for a very useful advice.

Cool! Japanese is awesome! Good luck to you! 😉
