I think cooks could get tips over drivers and waiters they are the ones doing the work. But that has alot to do with im the cook at work. But either Yes nontippers suck.
I think people who don't tip should be drawn & quartered, too, but one day they will have to serve someone without compensation.
I've never been a waitress, but I hear it's not an easy job. Nothing where you have to meet the public is easy.
My dad used to go to a restaurant near the airport. He ordered the same thing every time; an 8 oz ribeye, fries, and a salad with Thousand Island dressing. The steak was cooked well done. After the meal, before he left, he left the customary 10% to the waiter, and then walked back to the kitchen and gave the cook $ 10.00, every time.
I have experienced waitresses and waiters who didn't give a damn whether they gave good service or not. I tip according to how I was served.
Servers who give bad service suck even more! I always leave them at least 5% though..Unless they REALLY sucked, then they get $ 1 because that is the most irritating tip you can get.
Yep,i'm generally broke so ones that don't do thier jobs don't get anything the ones that are good will at least get a couple bucks but thats usually all I can afford. But my dads like yours as well he says they probably need it more than he does.10 buscks everytime he goes out.
you know Morganofmind I used to have this neat card (kind of like a credit card, but not) that I would carry in my wallet and it had a breakdown of what amount a person should tip for a meal. It had a grid kind of list that had the dollar amounts of the meal on the left and accross the top it had three different percentages you could tip. It further explained that the customary amount depends on the type of resturant. It showed 10% 15% and 20% . The first catagory was for ordering side dishes and beverages but not a full meal, that was the 10% listing. The second at 15% was for full meals at an average resturant like dennys etc. And the third was for the more spendy places like steak houses, and seafood resturants at 20% . But it also explained that the amounts given were the absolute minimum a person should leave in regards to the 10 and 15% tips on the list. It went further to state that a customary proper tip is 20% of the meals total. This card was published about twenty years ago and the amounts that are proper to tip have increased. Oh and I could be a little off in regards to the information that was on it because I lost it quite awhile ago, sorry but I was going from memory.
I lost the darn thing somewhere and have never seen another one, but I thought it was such a neat and handy little thing to have. I am not sure what is customary to leave now as I have not gone out to a resturant for quite awhile, not the kind you would leave a tip at anyway, lol. Taco Bell and Burger King are the places I wind up going probably because I have a fourteen year old, lol.
Just wanted to share that, I am going to try to see if I can find out where to get the cards if they still make them. I will let anyone who is interested know what I find out ok.
This is the original tipping page...You can order one of those cards here for like $ 2 or something.
No offense Tiamat, but if you were so broke that you can't tip, you shouldn't be going to restaurants that have servers who make $ $ off tips. The reason I say this is because I used to work at Johnny Rockets where a meal with a burger ( $ 5.50 was the cheapest) Fries ( $ 2 was the cheapest) and shake ( $ 4) could run you from up to $ 15-20. Right around the corner there was a Dairy Queen where you could feed a whole family for that, not to mention there was also a food court.
My point is, if you are going to say you can't tip b/c of how broke you are, go to Dairy Queen...don't leave somebody $ 1.50 because that is all you can afford b/c you decided to eat in a restaurant with more expensive food than you budgeted. They also have take-out nowadays, where you could still get the food, but not waste a server's time or a table where there is probably somebody who will tip them better. Like I said, I know what it's like to be broke but want to eat good, but there are ways around that benefiting both you & the server. Again, I meant no offense to you personally by this, it just used to piss me off when people did that to me & I was a server.
P.S. I'm not talking about bad servers, leave them $ 1 to annoy them. That's an insult!

Some families take the upper hand and tell you what to do in a relationship and then expect you to do it. Others wait until you complain about someone and instead of te
