sorry, this story disturbs me. saw it in the newspaper today, this is Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau. these shots were taken for french vogue. she is ten years old.

the last two photos i can accept as artistic expression...but the first few? are they serious? a child reclining on a bed, hooking her fingers in her jeans, wearing short shorts on a busy street? sorry, this is supposed to be fashion. what a joke. she's a victim, thank you, goodnight. this is like some lolita mash up and her parents have alot to answer to.

then again, one's a french international footballer, the other a tv presenter, so...yah. i'm guessing they're milking this baby cow for all she's worth and it's disgusting.

you can look at this and take it all sorts of ways, but what it comes down too is what people will do for money-the root of all evil. the thing about that is that its common sense, i was told this as a kid yet i never heard anyone talk about getting rid of money, so that people WOULDNT do things like this.

do you not think there's a fame angle to this too? like, her mother is a tv presenter...i'm sensing repressed dreams here she may be trying to live out through her child.

It is disgusting, but you are doing the same thing. You're exploiting her to draw attention to your ideas. We all are now.

that's an interesting way of looking at it, a little over-simplified though. i'm not exploiting her, that ship sailed when these photos went to press. they're not exclusive to this thread or the internet for that matter.

for me to agree with you, i'd have to see what i'm to gain by using her, as you say. i'm yet to make that connection.

An exchange of ideas. A discussion. A conversation. A communal writing project. 😄 She is your springboard.

as i said earlier, i think you're over-simplifying. but, i see where you're coming from.

Not everything is about money. The control of ideas is more powerful than money.

i would agree with this more if we were talking about art. say, an exhibition featuring young girls masquerading as women. it would be provocative yes, but this, however is strictly commercial. no message here, that i can see.

unless the 'message' is the public will passively accept whatever morally corrupt imagery the media choose to present.

or, are you saying this fashion shoot actually IS about controlling ideas? in a covert, backhanded way?

I'm obviously going to be the black sheep here, but I'm not that bothered by her photos. I've read about this french model before. I understand that from a certain stand point, it could be seen as exploitation, exposing her to a world of adult desires that she barely understands and having adults oogle at her before she has even reached puberty. Still, she is European, and European fashion is far less conservative than we are. No, this isn't an excuse, but it's also why I'm not surprised either. She's been doing runway since she was four, so this is probably second nature to her.

I'm more captivated than disturbed. To have a 10 year old be able to model as well as girls twice her age (who are we kidding? a lot of female models are only about 18 anyway). Her beauty is striking and I just kind of like the way it's captured. Her modeling is less about her being a child, and I guess I find that interesting. She could have easily been a catalog model or gracing the covers of SevenTeen magazine, but the European fashion and art world a little more daring than that.

I'm not undermining why it is disturbing to some, but I'm just not that bothered by her and her modeling either.

of course, because that's the way society i heading. Doesn't make it right tho. Like what VB said, she sould be playing and stuff. It's a bit like that show with "The Hollywood Babes" all those little girls and boys going to audition to be the next disney star. It's just plain weird

On a side note: many runway models aren't even 18 yet. I guess the fashion designers like to get them before they start "filling out"...

Lol, I said that too. Many models reach their "peak" at around 25. Although, if you look at many victoria's secret models like Adriana Lima who is 30 and just had a baby, then you can forget all of that lol.
