It is a very unique culteral trait that when any of their sports teams start winning, Boston residents (most of whom are only part time residents being all college students) feel that they need to go rioting and destroy things. Even after the Patriots won the superbowl, quarterback Brady in his speached made a plea to the fans back home in boston not to tear the city up too much. In spite of the suggestion, Riots ran rampant through out the city last night. I almost didn't make it home. I had been watching the game at my boyfriend's house outside of boston, by the time I needed to go home, the T had already closed. I was getting a ride back in, but police had closed off the exit which we needed to take to get to my place because of the rioting in Kenmore square. After going the wrong direction for a little while I eventually made it back. This morning everyone was sharing superbowl stories. Somebody at northeastern was killed in a riot when an SUV drove backwards through a crowd of people. The entire culture here is really quite sad, people feel pressured into such actions because they live here. It is this mentality wich leads people who live here to dare not admit to supporting a different team in a championship for fear of being tarred and feathered by a mob of riotors. Despite this dark side of Boston, as a resident, I have to admit that at least it never gets boring. I also have to say, what a game! YAY! Boston rules in spite of all it's madness!
