If I was to get it, I'd probably only get it as a hedge investment. Sadly I didn't have any funds to purchase gold last year. I suppose I could buy BTC now, but it's crazy volatile and even more expensive than gold.

If you have a trading account you can use leverage. I'm regularly trading 50k in gold but it's not like I hand over 50k. 20x leverage so it's a 2.5k investment each time. But I buy or short, depending on market swings

If you just want to buy and hold, with no leverage, then it's fairly low-risk but you're not going to make a ton of money (or lose a lot)

That's assuming you're not planning to buy a heap of actual gold and sit on it like a dragon

No. If things go to shit, there's only one currency that's worth a damn: ammunition.

In the absence of ammunition, would you buy gold?

Firearm license is not easy to get here. If things go crazy, I don't have that option.

In that situation the best investment you could make is moving somewhere less likely to turn into a warzone.

You know, most people just don't have the money to move just like that. Whether it be roots that they put down or just plain ole lack of money.

I always find it kind of funny: here in America most people don't even have enough money put away in a savings account and yet they always find funds for things like fireworks or the newest cell phone or electronic device. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd rather just buy an apartment(s) someplace cheap with potential growth factor (tourism) and rent it out either long term or turn it into an AirBnB

I'm looking at some real estate in Albania, will prolly not set my foot there, but the place is steadily on the rise as far as tourism goes (shares the same coast line with Croatia) ... basically what Croatia was in the 90's before it boomed.

Should have done it a few years back like my colleague, his apartment is worth 4x now what he paid for it.

whatever you do don't buy paper gold, or any scheme where they "keep the gold safe for you" , you're getting scammed.

Anything you own is what you can protect. Also anything you own, will most likely deteriorate over time. Everything deteriorates over time, even bank account numbers (inflation)

Best investment is flesh, flesh is stronger than steel (and gold)

The housing market here is far from what it used to be. These days, it feels like it's built on a house of cards with prices propped up by inflation and new condos being built with subpar materials. Also that it's harder to sell. That's what I hear anyways...

What's the second best investment?

Yeah I don't know where you live but you would definitely have to zero in somewhere internationally . I'd never buy a place in the country I live in either for those very reasons

I think I would try and invest in something that was exempt from capital gains taxes. However worth nothing you don't pay VAT on gold investments but you dont pay VAT on govt stocks and they are exempt from capital gains taxes. So i dont know.

Say hello to Canada, the land of where you pay taxes on every corner of your existence...

Nothing tax free outside of a tax free savings account here, though you may be eligible for certain tax credits...

As a easy flips = definitely.

1-2 months , its worth XYZ (Buy).

in a few months, its worth a little bit more.

(Sell).

Ez money, i dont think ive Never taken a loss selling/pawning little bits of gold.

If you Really wanna be a Millionaire

Buy Russian Rubles.

If i had bought 1 million $ worth of Russian currency, in the start of this Russia-Ukraine war.

I would be a fkin Billionaire now.

Went from 37 - to 100.

Once war ends, itll go Back to around 30-50.

Thats half of free money, u got for free, just by buying it.

Now Thats, is fkin Investing.

OP was one of the people pooh-poohing my Bitcoin thread (her post since erased). You'd only be up 52k in less than year with one Bitcoin if bought at the time of that thread. Good thing you were already an expert. Solo is right about gold. It's a hedge against inflation but not really an investment. It just depreciates less than the constant money printing. I found an investment that I have high enough conviction in that I sold one of my Bitcoin to go all in on it as well as put 3k from each of my last 2 paychecks into it. It's up 22% this week. I expect it to 2x or 3x by mid October based on info from just the last 3 days. I'll let you know the results 😉

Not really, because Russia has ICBMs & its Crazy.

& if iT (it's economy/Country) Falls, then, with this Current Regime = ill bet my Life that those ICBMs will be Launched and we All go into Nuclear Destruction.

Even iF Russia Also gets Rekt, it doesnt matter.

We'll All be going 2 Hell lmao

So yea theres your Guarantee that Ruble Will launch back up.

(Not to mention once 20.000 sanctions will be lifted & Free-trade economy opens up again = itll stabilize & YOU = could be Rich..

But its Only AFTER, this war ends & sanctions are Lifted..so its a Long-term investment.. buy when ruble high, sell when ruble Low)

Ez money & mathematics

No one likes a show off Mr I-made-a-lot-of-money 😛

I still can't stomach the volatility risks from BTC. 😕
