From what you wrote, I think you read him quite well. Keep him around ONLY as a friend.

I think there's potential there but definitely not right now. Maybe in a couple of years, you guys will connect in the way you want. Remember 5 years is a long time which means a good two to three years will need to pass before all of the residual feelings for that girl will go away....as a general rule.

In the meantime, I'd focus on myself, date around, have fun and enjoy life.
