I think the Dixie Chicks are absolutely within their rights as Americans to "dis" president bush. What right does anyone even have to make them "back up" their opinions? The Chicks never claimed to be spokeswomen on anything, so why are they being held accountable as if they are? They have every right to voice their opinions. I think these crazy southerners and right wing conservatives who are giving them death threats and such are absolutely evil. They think they're being all patriotic, but in reality, THEY are the unpatriotic ones because they are attempting to stifle, degrade, humiliate and threaten other Americans who are exercising the very freedoms that our veterans have died for them to be able to exercise. I am highly disturbed that anyone would say things like, "they should take Natalie Maines and strap her to a bomb and drop her over Iraq". That is so unamerican and evil.

I think what made so many people mad was the fact that they said this in London, and made it seem very gutless. I don't condone the death threats, in fact I think those people should be thrown in jail. But, those people who are in disagreement with them and aren't making death threats have their rights to do that, freedom of speech is a two-way street ya know. It isnt just southerners who are saying this stuff, most of the people I hear that call talk radio are not from the south. It's just the liberal media makes it seem like its us "dumb renecks" that are making all the threats. But I do wonder why everyone is so on to them, other celebs have said A LOT worse than they did. Like Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders who said she hopes that we lose the war, now then I'd take back what I said about people going to jail because of death threats in her case. She deserves them.

I should definitely amend my statement about the crazy southerners, that came off completely different than I meant it to...the only reason I said that is because I watched that Diane Sawyer interview with the Dixie Chicks the other night, and they were playing these sound bytes of radio callers who were upset with the Chicks, and all of them just happened to be southern (I know that not all southerners are crazy. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and here it's like people are either so uptight and conservative it's ridiculous, or they're so liberal and treehugging they might as well be communists--and we have our share of dumb rednecks, too). But yes, I agree that it seems a little strange that people have come down so hard on them. And Chrissy Hynde was foolish and callous to say that.

like America could use are unsupposed nukes that we have but don't and use them like Irqi. Now thats uncalled for. It's bad that one could imngie such a thing. but worse is the day it happens for then on America will regeret the action until America is no more. knock on wood all times and since. I have this bad habit of jenksing my step siter who it works on oddly. And yet we have differing views on some physic stuff but yet works for me. It's werid.
