Considering prostitution is the OLDEST profession known to man-kind, I'm just curious...do you guys think that prostitution should be legal?!

Something being considered "morally wrong" is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than it being illegal.

I understand that those who are NOT prostitutes or don't understand that life style may automatically think that prostitution is wrong morally BUT just b/c something is morally wrong, does it mean that it should be legally wrong?

I mean technically, there are TONS of things that people do morally wrong that are NOT illegal. If prostitution is illegal, we might as well make cheating, lying, abortion, unwanted children, etc. illegal. I hate that they base certain laws on what's considered "morally wrong" to the general public, BUT since people will engage in prostitution AND other "morally wrong" behaviors, I think it's only fair to prosecute for ALL morally wrong activities.

I think it should be legal and then it can be cleaned up! To me what makes it so seedy is the pimps, people being forced into it, the drug addictions, the abuse. It may seem morally wrong to "disrespect" your body in that way. But people are disrespecting their bodies for free every day and there is no law against that.

I would NEVER be a prostitute and I would NEVER be using their services but it really doesnt bother me if a consenting adult wants to give another consenting adult a service, and then be paid for that service. People are basically prostituting themselves by letting a guy buy them drinks all night, then going back to his place and sleeping with him, in theory hasnt he just paid (in alcohol) to sleep with the woman?

People watch porn, they pay for people to have sex with eachother, people go to strip clubs and pay for a woman to dance for them(and from the stories I have heard quite a bit more!) and this is all legal. Obviously no one wants to live next door to a brothal, unless your going to be visiting everyday lol but everyone should take a leaf out of Amsterdams book on this matter.

Make a district for it, where everybody knows thats what happens there.
Make sure it is away from schools, parks and anywhere else children tend to be.
Make sure the girls/guys (yes women also pay for sex lol) are happy and willing.
Make sure everyone is paying their taxes 🙂
Make sure everyone is safe.

To me aslong as there are rules then I dont see an issue with it, just dont want it on my doorstep!

http://www.sexwork.com/coalition/whatcountrieslegal.html>Frequently I am asked, "What countries have legal prostitution?"

Says (in part): "It would be easier to ask which countries is it illegal in, that would be a very short list, with mainly the U.S. were consenting adult sexual rights are denied.

Prostitution is LEGAL (with some restrictions that aren't that bad) in Canada, most all of Europe including England, France, Wales, Denmark, etc., most of South America including most of Mexico (often in special zones), Brazil, Israel (Tel Aviv known as the brothel capital of the world), Australia, and many other countries. It is either legal or very tolerated in most all of Asia and even Iran has "temporary wives" which can be for only a few hours! New Zealand passed in 2003 one of the most comprehensive decriminalization acts which even made street hookers legal which is causing many concerns. I do NOT support public nuisance street hookers being legal unless in special zones. But PRIVATE consenting adult sexwork should be legal as it is in most of the world except the U.S. "

Yes, prostitution should be legal, licensed, taxed, and regulated. It's the illegal prostitution that is disease- and guilt-ridden. If you don't like prostitutes, don't patronize them - like any other profession or service. If you don't want to be a prostitute, pick another job or career. Also, making something illegal doesn't stop it.. it just drives it underground.. prostitution, drugs, abortion, alcohol. Look at Prohibition. Look at the years before Roe VS. Wade.

I bristle against others trying to make a MORAL choice about how *I* should live MY life. Minding my own damn business is a full time job!

"Should prostitution be legal?"

You are kidding right? It already is legal...any female who thinks FWB is anything short of free prostitution is clearly confused! Guys have it made today. Easy free lays.

I completely agree! Half of the women in america are TECHNICALLY giving their energy/bodies & time to the WRONG people, while getting certain monetary services for it.

The woman who feels the need to sex her man every night so that he'll continue to be with her & pay the bills is just as much a prostitute than the woman who does the SAME thing on a street corner.

The woman who purposely goes out & finds a rich boyfriend/husband is JUST as much a prostitute as the woman who goes out on the street & gives services.

The woman who purposely uses sex and/or her body as a weapon/toy for manipulation is JUST as much a prostitute.

ANYONE using/giving sex for some kind fo GAIN (monetary or not) is considered a PROSTITUTE. So technically, most of AMERICA are prostitutes (men & women). Society just likes to ONLY criticize those actually BOLD Enough to do so on a street corner.
