Understanding the Commandment to Worship No Other Gods

The commandment emphasizes exclusive worship of the one God and discourages idolatry. It reflects the belief in a singular divine authority and aims to prevent divided loyalties. The reference to other gods highlights the importance of loyalty and the rejection of competing deities or idols in spiritual practice.

Why would one of the commandments be .....

.... take no other god before me

Or, however it's worded ... worship no other god.

If god is the Only .. then what other god is he worried about that the pions (us) might honor, in which might make him jealous?

Why even have this whole dramatic episode in which rules must be given us ... and one of the rules be referencing the existence of other gods that are available to worship?
