how is it that we can really trust what is written in modern jewish and christian scripture and quote it as if the law? were they not originally written by human hand and then translated again and again? and therefore should be subject to more scrutiny?
original scriptures have nearly disintegrated. how can we differentiate myth from true history when much could possibly (definitely) have been lost in translation?

you seem to be a true believer, I think it was writen by men, not inspired by a God. a Lot of the stories come from outher sources like Noah ark, so I kind of think its mostly made up and put together as a way of controling people. this is my view on all religion.
controlling is an extreme way of looking at religion, but not at all far fetched. some are that way for sure, but christianity i dont think is so much about control for the laity as much as it is for the people who started it all... people who might have been desperate to believe in something. passed down as far as it has been... its become something that only very few seem to question. the majority of people go as they have been taught and because that is the pattern, yes, it can eeeeaaasily be used and abused as a way to control. for the most part, i share the same sentiments Ol'J.
Interesting, I do believe there was a man named Jesus and I do believe his presents here on this earth changed the world. Like no one before him had ever changed it. a lot of the big changes have come from religion, For the most part, in my book, for the worse. alas there is little I can do about it.

What about people living in remote parts of the world, like an island in the Pacific, or something; and they've never even heard of God. They have absolutely no clue that there might be a higher power out there.
Was it Isaac who had 300 wives and 700 concubines? Can't remember his name exactly, but, I remember hearing that this man was favored by God. God loved him so much for his faith and servitude, that the man was blessed and talked directly to the diety.
The bible says that Cain and Abel had a row and one brother died. For this sin, the man was cast out of the Garden of Eden to go live with the other people on a different land.
What if you found yourself standing in front of God, would you believe it was really him? Or, think it was the devil? For, does anyone really see God with their own eyes.
i'm a mormon and really like it. i would encourage everyone to learn more about my religion cuz you'll probably really like it too. and also, if you think you know stuff already about my religion, just know that about 80% of what you've heard is wrong. pe
