MoonArtist suggested something got my attention:

I've never eaten horse, and I won't, but I won't be a hypocrite and say that meat that I do eat is somehow more right to eat than the meat someone else eats. It's muscle....matter.....with blood. All mammals are made of meat, even humans. It just depends on which perspective you're seeing it from. Some view any meat as abhorrent. Predators enjoy the hunt, and the feast. Prey doesn't enjoy it so much. Ultimately, meat is still meat: muscle and blood.

I hope horses don't need to be used as they once were. Too many humans don't know a thing about them and they abuse them. Plus, it's too expensive to have land and feed for a horse, enough so that most wouldn't be able to have one. No, technology will find an alternative to fossil fuel. Tesla was on the right track.
I am sorry to inform you but it will go back to horse, mule and oxen power, at the end of the day.
I can also tell you that electric power is nowhere near as efficient as diesel fuel oil in the trucks, ships
and trains and aircraft. (personal vehicles, and public transportation: buses and private aircraft, being omitted)

First of all, the electric vehicle HAS come a long way but
they remain rather limited. At the present time, they are pretty much
confined to city operation, having limited distance. Also, as it concerns
commercial trucks, places like Port of Long Beach would be an excellent
application for the present technology. The surface is flat and level.
Try that electric motor going through the Rockies @ 80,000 lbs and it's toast.
Most of society fails to understand that energy technology as high tech as it is, is
still a lonnnnnnnnnnng way off. I doubt the commercial truck problem will be resolved
in 100 years. And not without consequence.

For every pro, there is a con.

In the interest of saving the planet:

Another way to deal with pollution is to consolidate populations, and berid of unnecessary rural inhabitants.

Strategic Populace Relocation
For example, Las Vegas, Nevada. It's definitely a rural population center that is unnecessary.
with the casinos, came a string of construction, commercial and some light industrial industries
that support the city. Outlying towns serve as yet more residential communities that, again, service the metro.

As a result, the needless metro need not be the size that it is, provided the whole town be relocated to
a Mega City Monolith. Theory being IF a monolithic Residential Super-Giant-Monolith building (hereafter SGMB)
were built wherein the occupancy of the SGMB, were 50 MILLION people lived, worked and played under one roof,
and all such service, office oriented businesses (food, medicine, law, education, public services, maintenance)
also contained under the same roof, fossil fuel emissions would be considerably cut by over 50% in that same
region. By building UP and not out, the physical global footprint can be drastically reduced.

Imagine a super city under one roof. Doing so would eliminate traffic congestion simply because there
is no need travel via motor vehicle to and from work, to and from school or the grocery store. Life here
is all self-contained. As if living in a large luxury hotel. The foundational footprint for the monolith can
be gradually added on to. having a 10 mile x 10 mile parameter at it's outer wall.
Number of floors may exceed 2000 feet peaking perhaps 1000 stories

Having an occupancy of 50 million people, the SGMB would, in effect, be able to house the entire population
of California, Nevada and Arizona. An entirely different political atmosphere, no doubt would exist, but
the planet would be most effectively spared by moving such populations into a consolidated location.
the people having been removed from the old major metro cities and counties such as San Diego, Los Angeles,
San Francisco/Oakland, will free up land for farming purposes. In the same region, there would be "Blister Farms"
cultivating and growing fresh produce. Each floor would have it's own mail and freight conveyance systems.
A common grocery store chain within 2 miles of itself. People would travel on conveyer belts to and from
origins and destinations. No need for cars within the building. Emergency vehicles and personnel convey
by means of electric vehicles.

Department of Intelligent Population Consolidation Solutions (DIPCS) could be described as the engineering,
development and maintenance arm of the monolith.
Eternal transportation might be relatively the same, except rental cars, recreational vehicles and the like would
be the preferred mode of transportation to outlying areas, such as Lake Meade.

Additional monolithic populations would be reproduced across the country. Rural/farm residents live there
for a r
