Just tell me to let it go.

We went to school together, but I'm quite older than her. I went out briefly with her best friend before I knew of her. The eye contact and attraction we had was the most powerful thing I've ever known. We never went out, she always said no with a smile. I talked to her, wrote to her, but would eventually try to let it go because she played hard to get way too much and it was depressing. In a way, I probably looked like the typical hot and cold moody crabby.

She has been away for a year and when she comes back, it will have been almost two years without seeing her. I wrote to her last fall and she just told me to let it go, that I was harassing her. That hurt me quite a bit, but at the same time, she took the time to answer and that was a big step up, in a way. She was 18 the first time I met her, and she will turn 21 this November, could that change things a little bit? She's traveled, she's probably had experiences (teeth grinding), I'm thinking I could just open the door for her, like a cute little message? I can take being stung now, anyway, I can live with it, I'm not really expecting anything.

Well, I totally agree. It will always feel wrong, that's all. It's just bad to have this kind of crap never fixed, you know?
