Here's a chance for everyone to nominate the person they hate the most in American politics. Judge, legislator, executive, or bureaucrat are all acceptable. Since an overwhelming number of you will probably pick GW or Dick "Wad" Cheney, let's try to be creative.
My #1 villain at the moment is Barney "Buttboy" Frank. Idiotic federal elitist wants to bail out every powerful financial institution on the taxpayer's dime, and turn this once-great country into communism. Go to hell Barney.*
* Plus, he banged dudes... on federal government premises.
For me, it is our current dumb-ass, shit-kicking (and other hyphenated adjectives as well) president. They were really serious when they said in elementary school that anyone can become president. And I do mean ANYONE...ANYONE AT ALL! Including Carrot Top.
It's so fan-flippin-tastic that American voters have such high standards. *fart*
And also, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the seriously intellectually-challenged people who voted for the Bush-Wanker....FUCKING TWICE!
Thanks so much for sending us to war with the wrong country and slam-dunking our economy into the shitter. YOU GUYS ARE TOPS! *MUWAH*
I love George Bush Jr., almost as much as I loved his daddy.
And I am also glad we are at war, kicking some muslim extremist ass along the way. Even after we catch Osama 'Bad' Laden, we still need to preserve our prescense in the countries which train and harbour the bad guys.
I am absolutely honored to have a man like George Bush for my president. I only wish we were in a declared war, because that way, he could suspend the re-election process until it was won. Unfortunately, TWOT is only classified as a military action, not a war.
I will take some consolation that Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin will carry his torch, and I am fully behind the both of them as well.
Well it's a democracy, so a dislike of introduction into socialism is only natural. Can't speak for the others, but I'm 100% libertarian, live and let live and die.
FA your statement is a bit confusing; liberals are the ones with the most socialist policies. Perhaps you misunderstood, I said I was Libertarian; freedom and very limited govt are key philosophies.
I say democracy as it relates to our rule of law; the Constitution. I understand the reference to a Republic, but one might just cut to the chase and call it a plutocracy.
Congress passed the "Bankruptcy Reform Act" in 2005 while the Democrats offered only token resistance. Should really be called the Debt Enslavement Act.
If you go bankrupt, Uncle Sam makes it much harder for you to get out of your bad debts.
If banks go bankrupt, well we just have to guarantee all their bad debts so they can start over!
And now the icing on the cake; the SEC has just put a stop to short selling. So now companies that are not profitable and make terrible decisions don't get weeded out and eliminated as they should.
All they had to do was enforce the existing rule against naked short selling and much of the current disaster would have been severely curtailed. But as usual if one component isn't working our government bans the whole thing.
Market will be up huge again in the morning, shorts will be getting squeezed.
"What we have above isn't the "free market" at work. Rather, it is a gross socialistic distortion of the free market via aggressive government intervention, both in terms of financial backing and policymaking."
The lies the government continues to propose about "stronger regulations" are an utter joke. There is no stronger regulation than market failure.
The hypocrisy of Republicans to decry government intervention and then approve unlimited funds for a Fannie bailout is a smokescreen, much like McCain's flip-flop on AIG.
The bottom-line is the government controls the financial system, which in turn, controls the government. They are both parasites.
It's either that or perpetual tax & debt enslavement of the population. There is something revolting about obligating future Americans to pay taxes to bail out financial elitists.
all these extraordinary fascist interventions of the government go against free markets and transparent government.
it is an ancien regime; a political and financial elite willing to drag the people of this country through hell in order to stay in power and keep their authority in check.
Cusp of Power - of course you would love to blame government and socialism for everything but I would recommend you read what Warren Buffet had to say about derivatives in his 2003 newsletter.
"I find him unbearably arrogant and self-serving."
That can stem from Ur personal angst and may or may not be an objective thought. Am more interested to know what measures one should employ the truth - How would U substantiate what U feel ?
It's just more of a spectacle - like how does anyone take these politicians seriously with all the tongue lashing...hehe - similar to the House of Paliaments I guess so politics = durrrty.
Control's control --- but I guess extreme control's borderline dictatorship - with the global economic mess, there's a case for more government intervention.
No matter what Govt is selected - there's going to be aspects of extreme control in various areas...like all governments 😢 It's whether the right area has been adequately regulated that makes the difference.
So...who to choose— - all signs point to 'don't choose' 😛
One last thing, this election is way too historical for me not to be apart of it. Theres no fury strong enough to stop me from helping with the Rock The Vote Campaign 😄 😄 😄
