So......... are you an Old....... "Fossil"?
I can remember being a called a grandpa at the age of 35.
"Is this for your grandchild?" she said. That was three years before my Grandson was born.

I've been called a new soul by someone who considers himself and old soul. Not everything on the list fits me. I do love knowledge and wisdom and truth, but I also adore new gadgets, like the iphone, have a social streak while managing to be an introvert, and despite knowing that life is fragile and fleeting, or maybe BECAUSE of knowing that, I always manage to see the exquisite beauty all around, even in something as mundane and overlooked as a dead leaf....but that might be the artist in me.
No, I'm probably not an old soul.

Well, I don't see anything wrong with appreciating natural beauty in all their manifestations.
One thing I have learned and continue to learn, is that of man made things. And I've seen an awful
lot of it. Though I have a great many material possession, I know it's a false wealth. It's a mirage. A fraud
and a ship anchor tied about the neck. Also, it brings about the concern that someone can break in and steal.
And that has happen. And... it's something that has to be constantly taken care of. - yet, those things
have no feelings.
The realization of that becomes more glaring with each passing day. Rot and decay are their destiny.
I must let go. Not on a whim, mind you, but through true realization for what such things truly are.
It's one thing to have sustainable wealth (food, clothing, shelter), quite another when that wealth becomes so exceeding (the whole world) that one cannot do anything and is bound like one condemned to the stake.
The obscene desire to have that which cannot be obtained through means of material gain by force is the
foundation of great sorrows and consequential calamities.
Happy is the man who walks through life empty handed, yet content in his heart to overflowing.

True, possessions are meaningless in many ways, and certainly not important the way people are. They do make like more comfortable, but can be a burden, as well. What I like about gadgets/technology is the usefulness of it. It speaks to the inner geek in me and I end up like a silly kid in a candy store, especially if I can see how a certain technology can be used in the creative process (3D printers!! So cool!!). They are ingenious tools, sometimes, and for that I get excited about them. Cameras are the perfect example. I completely geek out about cameras! I use them in my own creative process as an extension of my expression, but a very different one than my art and jewelry. All of them come from my drive to create but they all speak with a different voice. Not sure that makes sense to anyone, but that's how it is. 🙂

Indeed, There are many neat things, but for me, they get old almost as soon as I take possession of them.
That's the crux of it. I am to learn something from this, and it is to be passed on.
Neat things, ingenious things, well made things, durable things, they can be a weakness. Nevertheless, they too, will rust and break down, or fade with the passage of time. They are, in reality, a vanity. To be possessed by
them can bring about agonizing vexations. One must experience this, to fully relate to what is being said, here.
I knew a man who was very wealthy and had a warehouse full of possessions, yet, I could clearly see there was
a vexation - I learned from him, perhaps this valuable lesson, that when you have too many irons in the fire, nothing can be cooked. It's all red hot iron. Likewise also with knowledge. Especially bad useless knowledge.
You see, a creative heart is a productive mind, but an exceeding possessive heart...... is a destructive heart. It will even set out to destroy itself, along with others with it.
Now, what you speak of are media tools for the express purpose of translating your creativity into reality.
A carpenter needs his tools to build a house. Can't blame him for desiring the necessary tools to get the job done.click to expand

Hmmm...based on that I'd say I'm a combo of mature and old. ~shrugs~
But I refuse to be OLD, dammit! >.
You're a combo of 5 year old and 90 year old...but only the negative sides...physical unattractiveness, and mental retardation.click to expand
You flirty little hussy! Stop making me blush 😉
