So I'm dumbfounded. What EXACTLY does a girl mean when she says you have to "fight for her"? Or "prove to her" your love?

"Oh yeah, I"ve met those before, they feel the need to be wanted a lot, and to have two or more guys, fighting for her attention, ( she really doesn't mean an actual fight, more like, who will pay her more attention, than another guy)
I just let them alone, my thoughts were, she either likes me, or she doesn't, and if she can't make up her mind, without me jumping through hoops, she's not the girl for me.
If she wants that much attention and guys, eager to give her that kind of ego boosting attention, then fine. I'm just not going to play that kind of game, for her self amusement.
So if you really want her, and why you should I don't know, you will have to compete with what ever other boy she has, chasing after her. "

This is the kind of game that young and mature women, alike, should try and avoid.

he did not have to do anything, not carry any luggage on her behalf.
she has nothing to prove that it was more than convenience.
