Chasing us at the beginning can be really beneficial though unless you got alot of patience the process is gonna take much longer if you don't chase a little. Op idk your situation but Im not good at catching the signs someone is interested in me easily he may as well but i suggest you just be yourself and befriend him get to know each other and do friendly gestures for him that catches our attention since we are the sign of reciprocity we like and gravitate to kind people with good hearts.
i agree with LentoBull. i certainly had to flirt with my partner and make my feelings known. Even then it still took him a long time to believe i was genuine and place himself on my hook. the problem can be sometimes we think we are flirting but the signs are so subtle, the bull doesn't pick up on them.
but the best thing you can do is be friends and be friendly.

My partner has/had a number of women flirt with him. He never takes it seriously. perhaps he didn't even take me seriously when I first started dropping hints.
Become better friends with him first and then let it unfold organically.
