I have dark hair with blonde added to it too. I have a balayage.
I'm trying to avoid heat on my hair cos it's way too damaging as I've just had the colour put in! My hair is naturally curly so I try and leave my natural curls and add some salt spray for texture.

To also keep my curls in without using a curler/heat, I will braid it at night, sleep with it in and in the morning take the braid out. It's almost like a beachy wave. To get a nice shine, I add a serum which has an oil in it.

You don't want to keep over processing your hair. If you decide to cut your hair, I think don't cut it too short or the curls won't look right. You need some length. However, If you want volume, go for short layers - the curls will look great!

I am just growing my hair out at the moment. It's at my shoulder blades on my back when curled, and longer when wet or if I were to blow-dry it. For now, I simply wear it back because I don't like my hair touching my ears or my face.

I got a reverse bob before and it was super cute with my curls. I added warm highlights to add dimension to my brown hair; I don't ever bleach. *^.^* My advice is, whatever you choose to do with your hair, always think of the look in the context of your natural hair. Some women style and cut their hair to suit it when it's straightened only to have it not look as good when their hair reverts back to its natural look. I'm not one to straighten my hair (except for weddings), so I am a big supporter of loving thy curls. 😄
I bet that is a cute, fun, sexy style. I might think about doing this. I have a really tight curl about shoulder length. I believe in working with my curl vs. Against it. I can't begin to tell you how many stylist want to straighten it. I have tried a Keritan complex straightner. I liked it okay but I actually like my curl. Thanks Lilly blossom for the suggestion. I may try this.

Bantu curls is a good style no matter wat season
So true Heartofgold!

For all my curly friends if you have never got a Ouidad cut or used their products they are awesome. The cut is a carving type cut to take out some bulk without loosing length or integrity of the curl. My friend is certified at her salon she owns. I have Puerto Rican curls so I have tight cork screw curls. I agree we have to work with what we were born with and love our curls. I have quit straightening for the last 10 years other than when I get in front of a stylist and they want to straighten.

It is pronounced we-dod

Another great line is Deva curls. I love their no-poo shampoo and conditioner.

I am just so glad there is more knowledge and product on our type of hair. Can't tell you the number of times I ask a new stylist "Do you know how to work with curly hair?" Than I end up finding someone to fix my hair.
