Well Vedic astrology is written in their (Hindu) religion. The interpretation is in their ancient or classical Vedic texts, actually, an extension to it since their Holy texts are scattered across multiple book unlike the KJV. Classic here is older than the Bible.

Western astrology is instead taught like another subject, like algebra or astronomy.

They have each their strengths. Both are accurate. Although Vedic astrology is reputed to be much more accurate. Vedic astrology takes most of its interpretation from detailed instructions on the Vedic texts. Western astrology much of it was by scientific discovery. And, Vedic astrology has some concepts like the dasa or matardasa system which Western astrology totally lacks.

Rather than being separate, I think they should marry each other and enjoy each other's differences.

I think Vedic astrology has a lot of differences. I'm also new in Vedic astrology. But I'm fond of it now. Recently I found an interesting AstroSage Kundli app for Android at http://freepps.top/. It's free app based on Vedic Astrology or Jyotish. It has traditional features for Vedic astrology chart and some sort of predictions. Very interesting. I think it could be useful for those who's new in Jyotish as I am.
