In school (much younger days), I was really good in math .. over time, using calculators .. I'd be lucky to remember the times tables.
Listening to how we all talk in here, are we actually hurting ourselves with our language skills?
No caps, complete sentences, punctuation, spelling, sometimes people don't even end sentences to begin another.
What kind of an effect is this having on us subconsciously? Will there come a time when we actually "see" correct verbage and think it's wrong because using incorrect grammer appears norm?
I doubt its that serious....most of the time it just comes down to typing fast, not caring to go back and correct every mistake, etc......chatting online is of the casual equivalent of turning in a term paper with ZERO proof-reading or spell checking..not to mention most of us are at work half of the time and really don't have the time to make sure everything is perfect...I for one type like 90-100wpm... I see errors all the time I made by mistake....if it REALLY bothers me, I might fix it...normally, I'm like "whatever, they'll get the f'in point"....
what this board REALLY needs is a software upgrade so we can edit our go.d.d.a.mn posts lol..but then I guess you gets whqt youu p ay fore!!!!!! (mispelling and bad grammar INTENDED lol)
um, trust P, your subconscious is as tight as your lyric! lol.....You worry too much! lol and for ONCE I can agree with cancerLA lol 😛
incorrect, and correct are adjectives, and adjectives are subjective......stay away from them!!!! RUN!!!!! They make you biased, and predisposed to one way, when any way that progresses is alright; or at least that's what I believe....what do I know I'm just a Vorigo lol silliness....😛
Well, I don't come to dxp for stylistic brilliance and OED-level grammatr lol.
Sometimes I think that the "incorrect" style of writing can be rather creative...can show personality in rather unusual ways...I enjoy it.
On the other hand, I worry about grammar especially for my kids, which is why I have them read classics as well as Scooby-Doo. Must be my Libra planets, but I try to steer a middle course.
