If I like a girl, I'm excited to get a text from her and will usually write back immediately. Unless I'm asleep.
A whole day went by without a reply from me? It's because I'm either mad at you, irritated with you, or not interested at all. Even if I like you a tiny little bit, I'm going to reply immediately.
And I much prefer texting (or preferably emailing) over talking on the phone... even though there might be some time between each exchange, I smile every time I get a message from the girl I like so it makes me happy all day.

You’re pushing him too hard
If you text him too often or send him messages via social media; he may feel overwhelmed and want a little space from you. By nature; the Virgo man typically does want a bit of personal freedom.
