Sun signs, the TV shows you watch, and its effect within the family

For some background information, in my family, there is me (Libra), my father (Aries), and my mother (Capricorn).

My hypothesis is that the sun sign has some effect over the TV shows one tends to watch. For example, my mother (Capricorn) tends to watch shows about power struggles, issues with money, and issues over class. My father (Aries) tends to watch TV shows and movies about a lot of physical fighting, physical struggles, and duking it out with one another. I enjoy watching shows about romance and people getting together, and comedy like the Big Bang theory. I think that the shows three of us tend to enjoy watching comes from the sun sign.

My concern is with the aspects of those signs toward each other. Libra opposes Aries and squares Capricorn. I find that I dislike the movies that they choose. More specifically, I will tend to not watch what my mother does (square), and avoid completely what my father does (opposing). I find the shows the like to watch wind me up too much. Too much petty problems and struggles in what my mother likes to watch and too much violence and pain in what my father watches. I don't know how they view the shows I watch. But my parents tend to ignore the shows I watch instead of being interested.

I wonder if any of you have noticed the same thing, enjoying the kind types of TV shows both sun signs are in a positive aspect and not being able to enjoy the same type of shows when both sun signs are in a negative aspect.

dude i'm with is an opposing energy to me but a 6th houser and i noticed we both like anime but i'm pickier about what i'd watch coz i'm not into one piece like he is but we like watching stuff together like black clover (magical/fantasy), currently record of ragnarok (action/fantasy), some movie thrillers and sometimes dramas like the glory (revenge).

I was just at this exact time thinking about this thinking this Dr G is pretty interesting lately Been watching a lot forensic file type of shows. But my favorite shows of all time are pretty much cartoons. Gen X stuff I grew up with mostly like Beavis Butthead, old Transformers cartoon classic Ren Stimpy, Looney tunes, etc. Sign Taurus.

you’re right about aries and possibly other fire signs liking movies about fighting/duking it out with others lol I’ve noticed that fire signs tend to like anything that gets their blood pumping, we like living life on the edge to begin with so it’s only natural that we gravitate towards action/excitement. we like anything that’s raw and real. fire signs might also love shows and movies about beating the odds (anything that involves risks, when there’s a lot at stake etc ).

as for libra, yeah i do notice this tendency in one of my best friends to gravitate towards shows that have themes of love, finding inner peace or calmness, people coming together to reach new levels of understanding ? resolution etc

i remember watching menace ii society on tv with her and my s/o one time and her going “wtfff change the channel” at the scene where the cashier was gunned down. the movie had just started and i thought it was a raw, powerful scene that set the tone for the entire movie but she wasn’t having any of it

she doesn’t like seeing the ugly side of things but reality is often ugly so i don’t know what to say to that. :/

she really likes this show called “afterlife” (it’s a british show about a man who lost his wife to cancer and is trying to come to terms with and heal from that/ find inner peace) she also likes this other british show called “travels with my father” ( a guy basically takes his grumpy dad on trips around the world and hilarious stuff happen along the way lol)

i like watching documentaries more than movies. (true crime, poverty, human trafficking, drug cartels, underpaid workers in sweatshops, corruption in governments, i watched this one called “the social dilemma” and “ the great hack” recently and those were really good and eye opening.)

my s/o (sag) and i pretty much watch the same stuff. except he also likes shows about messy homes getting cleaned lol 😂and shows where hoarders let go of stuff lol

i was curious as to why so i asked him “ is it because you like watching the emotional/mental transformation in people after their homes become clean?” and he said yeah he likes watching people become liberated from things that were weighing them down 🙂

Such analysis is too simplistic, I'm afraid.


As a Cap, when it comes to genres, I'm open to almost everything, apart from horror and crime thrillers. For me, the most important factors are entertainment value and quality - if the shows are badly written or conceived, I switch off.

Hi, I suppose in the intricacies of the chart, using only the sun sign to determine it could be a stretch.

It's good that you both like the same shows. I am very interested in what affects the shows people like to watch because it is something that makes two or more people more or less likely to want to spend more time together.

Cap : mystery, thrillers , suspense , romance

Leo : not much of a tv person , fan of marvel character movies, transformers and mostly into shows related to sports ,cars , something informative

Scorpio : peppa pig , sonic and cars movie


I would love to watch stuff together but because the choice doesn’t match we hardly watch anything together.

Thank you for reminding me about the elements attributed to the signs. Many of the shows you describe reminds me of the shows favoured by my father but would get me hurrying off the couch, both the exciting shows and the types of documentaries.

I can't speak for your friend, for me I do know reality is ugly. I don't really want to know exactly how ugly. But then I do tend to stick my head in my pillow when the topic comes up.

I secretly like shows about people who are heartbroken healing, usually because of the help of another. I watch them late at night and weep. But for the most part, I can see myself watching the same shows as your friend, both about healing and about watching funny reality TV shows.

From my sister, it could be that Sagittarius people tend to watch whatever is on the TV as she would watch whatever my mother watches.
