girl texts a guy a raunchy joke, the guy texts her back a raunchier joke, but the guy doesn't get a reply and so he writes girl off. guy runs into her at grocery 2 months later and says, you must not have liked my joke. girl says, no it was funny, I sent you one back. guy looks at girl but doesn't say anything. girl continues, oh, you didn't get it.

So, did she screw up the text message, or was she lying to be nice?

she could be telling the truth, i've had instances where i sent a text and it was never received and vice versa. although it's not too common for it to happen but it has.

What she sent me was the ghetto version of 'Twas the night before Christmas. What I sent: A japanese girl was doing 69 w/ her bf when she accidentally farted. she said, i so sorry ... you make front hole so happy, back hole blow you kiss.

Thanks, TofChaos ... I'll keep that in mind if ever this situation again. She did seem genuine and happy that I stopped to talk to her in the store ... so, maybe I should have been just a little more assertive before. Too bad I deleted her number already.

jru2 - uhm it was funny i guess but race-based comedy is sorta tricky. for me, if it's not something you'd say in the presence of that race then it's probably something i wouldn't feel comfortable laughing at. i wouldn't fault the person telling the joke necessarily but i would be a lil weary of them if that makes sense.

tubby, an asian girl sent that one to me originally, but yes, I've noticed some girls don't care for it ( too racist, or maybe just too racey ) Actually, asians seem to like it better than most ... although, I don't know any Japanese girls so I don't know if they would like it.

@jru...folks within a particular race generally have no problem with jokes about their race but it depends on who's telling the joke. i mean, ebony comics saying things about ebony folk is one thing, non-ebony comics making the same jokes might not go over too well. it's like you can talk about how horrible a family member is but that doesn't give your friends the right to the same ya know?

as far as the new joke...uhm, it's just not MY style of humor but i figure if it's yours, put it out there and see what sticks. women who are offended will stay away and/or tell you it sucks. but a woman who gets and appreciates your humor...well, she might just be the one. just be yourself. bad or not so bad jokes and all.

tubby, I agree with your 2nd paragraph ... and it is my point behind these ... to see who has similar taste.

Well, I believe you are correct that I didn't handle the situation very well, else I'd have been dating her for the last couple of months. However, I was going way out of my way to not be creepy (i'm old, she's young so there is some inherent creepiness there). Anyway, we got along great when we 1st met at the dentist office before Christmas. Then I ran into her at the store the other day ( i promise i wasn't stalking her ). The only way I could think of to start the conv. was to give her a little shXt, as you say, about not liking my joke. Everything I said was in a joking tone though.

Of course there's always the possibility that she's lying just as much as there's a chance that she actually didn't receive your text. If you guys went 2 months w/o one of you initiating contact then that shows the true measure of what's going on b/w you two moreso than her not responding to your joke. True, she could've been a little offended, as we've always got to remember that crude humor may not be so funny to others. BUT, it sounds like the communication isn't where it should be, but I only say that with the assumption that you 2 really liked eachother. She probably was genuinely happy to see you at the store, BUT her not contacting you for those 2 months before she saw you tells you the true story. Maybe she was turned off & felt it was pointless to say anything to you about the joke. And hey, even if she didn't get your text, it's still a little fishy that she wouldn't have contacted you at all for so long. Who knows. Only she does
