I believe he looked up astrology on Wikipedia. I'll have to search it out myself but what was interesting is that while he was reading it to me so righteously I was following what he was saying, I knew the jargon related to astrology whereas he does not...he was speaking with confidence without even knowing the terms he was reading out loud. When I attempted to explain anything he just said he didn't want to hear it. It drives me to write an article on Wiki myself, as I am preparing to edit and update my teacher's manuscript in preparation for an astrology class we are starting in the coming year. We are preparing it for publication.

What I found to be most interesting about the article is that it argues against astrology based on predictions. Anyone who studies astrology or the tarot understands that life is full of variables. In one sense, we exist in a system that is not perfect...a person trained to hit a target with an arrow can be trained, have the perfect trajectory and still miss the target if there is a gust of wind or if by chance something else interferes with the path..like a bird flying through the zone. People often refute astrology because it isn't perfect...in that just because someone is born with planets in a certain house, and transits effect it, the outcome's predictions are variable. To say it more simply, people assume there are no other variables....and they can therefore argue against it because nothing is set in perfect order....so to speak.

To me, astrology is a study, rather than a set law. Planets have influence, our natal chart has influence...but how one responds is never set in stone. And so to refute the whole study based on the realization that there are variables unseen, seems ridiculous. Life has variables so that we can realize ourselves...it is more a subject to find understanding than it is a means to control or manipulate things.

When I first started studying astrology, I looked at it as a way to understand myself, granted...it has its way of defining people, which some find limiting. yet to use the influential transits for self-development is very different than seeing oneself as being swept away by things out of one's control. If this is the energy available, how do you access it? That's the meal for me.
So when I meet someone who judges the study and also has refused to even examine it, it brings up the question of valuation. Why do people feel so righteous as to criticize a subject they have not studied and go on to claim their viewpoint as being the rule of which to the deam value of something based on light or shadow society has caste on any said subject. Knowledge is not equal to understanding. If someone parrots material with clout, but has no basis of understanding of said material, who the hell are they to pass judgement?

Considering I woke one morning, lying in bed with a thought that crossed my mind that I was in a living situation with him and returned home to discover he had tossed out the tarot deck I created by hand, I believe you are quite right Montgomery

Ohhhhh, his ears would have been ringing! I flipped shit on my ex (husband at the time) because he smashed a huge spider on a drawing of mine.

I don't know if it was anything like that...I only recently started dating this man and ever since he learned I studied astrology and read the tarot, which he pronounces tarrot, he has condemned me as being crazy and unfit for developing any sort of relationship out of fear that I might speak to one of his friends about it, and embarrass him.
So I think my vision was more of a caution of sorts

Hmm... I was just wondering if you had a Pisces Moon.

And lol @ 'tarrot'

Not only is he narrow-minded-- he sounds downright rude.

Even if he didn't approve, there's no reason to be so ugly about it.

To say nothing of his fear of social stigma.

Bleh. smh

Do you know his sign?

I was fortunate to apprentice with a teacher that holds understanding as a priority over knowledge.
In the arena of astrology I have had many interpretations of my chart that are all over the board....some helpful, and others not so much. It seems that any interpretation of a natal chart is biased in some way...just by the nature of things. I say this because what one has gathered in this realm depends largley on what one has read and experienced. Similar to the Tarot, if one is only versed in memorizing information than what can be offered in interpretation is quite limited. The reader/astrologer has to be able to connect all the dots in order to share understanding of any particular situation or person rather than piece it all out separately.

I find it to be an interesting and useful study. Rather than tell people, your this sign...therefore you are defined as x, y, z....I notice similarities in behavior, saying...oh, you do this, that's interesting, where does it show up in the chart?

I go about it backwards, I guess. I am still working on the riddle called "life." I think we all are. Despite what we gather in knowledge, understanding comes with experience, and that can only happen through the course of time and undergoing various experiences.

I'm not sure that a hand made deck which took two years to make, can be likened to a tossed album....Note: he didn't toss it out, I just had a vision that it would be something he'd do if given the opportunity.

I think people are doing a similar thing with psychic readings today, as some did with tarot readings in the 70s. It is the main reason I don't claim myself to be a psychic, even though I have it in my blood.

I consider myself more of a perspective navigator. A carpenter of viewpoints. I'm told I read in quite a unique way....it is likely due to my interest and participation in The Fourth Way, which lends another layer to understanding due to self-observation.

yes, he and I see and feel things differently...that's clear.
