I'm honest. And it's not just that..it's because I wonder what comes across wrong in my typing. It's seriously something that bugs me as of late.

That's the thing, it depends on the joke and the people. I want to know where I go wrong.

It would've been easier if someone came in and said:

1)They're boring
2)They lack substance
3)Whatever else

That's where I am going with this.

Maybe it was their Aries sun. All of them have an Aries Sun, one is a Pisces.

I didn't get it in the beginning. The first few times I ran across your posts I interpreted some of the things said as being a little rude and brash.

But then I noticed your Aries and it was like oh, okay, roll with it lol. Probably just offset my Leeb a bit at first. Now I've gotten used to it I know better.

Yes PVAF, in my mind Romanian humor plays a huge part in it. I don't really do "playful" yes.

It's not always easy to tell when you're being serious or joking. I imagine that's especially true for posters here that don't know you too well or haven't been around much.

sometimes seems to be from the Andy Kaufmann school of comedy where you're the only one in on the joke which makes it more about your mannerisms than what is actually said..which some find hilarious from an observational standpoint..but others can find it grating.

I find your comments amusing. Like some of the others said above, I think its difficult to translate humor and sarcasm in text. Some don't or won't get it for that reason. Also, people sometimes just have a different sense of humor and dont find the same things funny that you do. Or they're just grouches! Anyway, I wouldnt worry with it too much unless it consistently comes up IRL.

I thought about posting this in Validation but not many people I interract with go in there.

I just need to wrap my mind around the fact that humor is always differently perceived depending on the other party..it's just that when I find something funny I always assume the rest of the world finds it funny also. So I get that..but I don't really get that lol.

And maybe if I stfu more, that would also help.

Damnata it can be your sense of humor is direct and blunt. And some people can't handle that type of humor. Also factor in how you can be intense with your vocalizations of certain subjects. Last but not least they don't like you cause you ruffled some feathers in the forum chats, so they make a problem with what you say regardless if it is fun or not.

Damnata did you make this thread because it bothers you that your humor hurts others? And this is an attempt to improve on your skill because you don't want to hurt anyone you just want to make people laugh correct?

I am in a weird mindset over it. I wouldn't have brought it up if it wasn't happening IRL also.

It bothers me when people don't get my humor yes. Because then they completely misjudge my intentions which is not to hurt but just..be sarcastic? I thought it was some self esteem issue I have but it's something else and I cannot pinpoint it exactly.

Yes, my purpose is to make people laugh. More like..everytime I meet someone there's lots of laughter and giggles and I probably like that image so much I am trying to force it in a way? Don't know if it makes sense.

To explain a real life scenario here:

I really really like people, there's always something interesting about them. It makes me naive and gullible yes. So I meet someone and they seem interesting and I like to talk to them and at some point we'll joke around. If they don't know me well enough...I might hurt them with that? Because they would have no clue my humor is not meant to diss or annoy or upset. I'm just trying to avoid that scenario. In my mind when I get there, there's a very vivid image of us laughing and running around and when they don't get me, that image comes crashing down.

I don't know why I put this much stock into it. Might be selfishness because in a way..I try to adapt so we can talk some more without them being offended? I learn a lot through interacting with people so that might be a selfish behavior on my part.

I like how I'm bouncing ideas in my head from this topic 🙂

I don't want them to be funny. I just don't want us to fight over some stupid joke I make.

And God do I make a lot. Foot in the mouth disease.

Yeah I'd say you do seem to try too hard to make something funny or... just to be funny in general.

I'm not sure if that's necessarily a problem or not. Seems like the drive one would need to be funny.

In all truth I think me and you have very similar humor actually. Difference being I usually don't give too much a shit if someone gets offended... it does depend however.

My two cents: the only issue that is obvious here and you could work on is your terribly skewed perception of how other people take your comments. Most people don't give a shit, your comments aren't gonna change their lives in any significant way. You seem to live in the delusion that you're ruining people's lives just because they don't get your sense of humour. People aren't gonna kill themselves just cause they misinterpret you. Most people also don't care enough to take the time and effort to really try to understand you, if they don't.
