yes!! Tattoos can be and are sexy... and it's never a problem with one person. Like if my bf or friend got one, I wouldn't hate it. But when EVERYONE is doing it and you just walk around minding your own business but all you see is tid bits of info on their skin it just gets annoying and is info overload.
It's just becoming too mainstream.

I’m getting my first tattoo sometime this year. Just have to narrow down what. It’ll be two sacred geometry symbols. One on the base of my neck and the other on my sternum, near my heart.
I don’t have an issue with anyone’s tattoos. But some people worry me about them. To inscribe something permanently onto your skin is to invite that energy/concept into your life continually. Especially pertaining to the part of the body it’s inscribed on. That why tattoos used to be reserved to warriors and spiritual classes.
Had an ex inscribe on his heart a verse to keep god in his heart always. Right after he did that he became a coke addict, for several dui’s and has since had a string of misfortune. He never saw the correlation. Like dude, you were living a shit self absorbed life and then invited the power of the universe into you’re body, permanently. It won’t tolerate you living for menial reasons. Things will continue to implode till you initiate change.

My main issue is how mainstream it has become and you just end up seeing the most ridiculous shit on people's skin. If it was one offs, it would be one hting but it's become so prevalent it's unavoidable.

We as human beings are constantly evolving and even de-evolving. We are on a journey that we don't know where it will take us. So I don't see the point of permanently marking yourself with things that you have no clue what will mean tomorrow.
Everything in nature, even our skin cells, are in cycles... it shows the birth and rebirth constantly so why chain yourself to ideas, values, etc when you don't know what tomorrow brings.

That's a very AMERICAN aka Individualistic view point. There is value in thinking more collectively at times because what we do as individuals does shape our environment and society which affect other people. So you might want to pretend you're a little island to do whatever you want but reality is that we are heavily tied to other people and our community. This is the reason humans have progressed as far as they have because of our innate need for community and passing on values/knowledge from one generation to the next.
Yes you're marking YOUR body but now everyone else has to look at doodles of Snoopy everywhere you go.

When you look at it tho, it’s a selection of younger gen x and millennials this has become prevalent for. Both generations share baby boomers as parents. (Mostly, a few youngner millennials have gen x parents for gen x parents that had kids 16-22)
The reason they highlight tattoos, is expression, embodying their personal ideals. Baby boomers are notorious for struggling with expressing themselves, especially in more intimate or family settings, particularly with recognizing emotions or ideas. So it’s fitting that it becomes commonplace for their children’s generation to literally wear their feeling and ideas on their sleeves. It’s their conciousness’ reaction to needing to be recognized and cultivated. Taking things that are more intimate and making them external, visible and open.
It’s really interesting in that regard to me. And I’ve met plenty people that have stories of tattoos they regret and got impulsively. And even more stories where they don’t regret the tattoos so much as think they’re silly and wonder why they got that when older. But that reminder is good cause it shows growth. It shows development. And it’s a lot harder to rewrite your personal history when you have emblems to a certain time in your life on your body.

I'm a typical Capricorn so I just assumed people are jumping on the tattoo bandwagon because they're dumb and impractical. The way you explained it I'm having more sympathy for them that it is an outward cry...
I've always been annoyed with how some people so openly express intimate emotions/ideas and I end up thinking, "Hey, I'm not interested. I didn't ask." I think that comes from my own method of being more like the baby boomers and withholding expression or intimate feelings.
