Our rising sign: what we WANT TO BE?

Do you think your rising sign represents to you what you WANT TO BE? From my experience of myself and others that I have met/observed this seems to be the case, even when the ascendant is at odds with the Sun sign. For example my sister is a Cancer Sun but has Aquarius rising, and for many years she has gone out of her way to live a "bohemian" life style . A guy that I met many years ago (another Cancer) had his ascendant (and Moon) in Leo and insisted on referring to himself as a Leo! And there is a guy on these boards who is a Gemini with Scorpio rising but who seems to identify totally with his ascendant rather than his sun. My son (nearly 11 years old) is a Sag but with Scorpio rising and definitely seems to be developing something of an "attitude" now, and recently threatened to "get his revenge" on his mother over something he thought that she had crossed him on! In my own case I am a Virgo with Sagittarius rising, and I guess it is true to say that I wish that I had been a Sag, which is difficult for a Virgo (probably why I have got Saturn in 1st House!)

yes and no... i find myself attracted to traits that are scorpionic. im probably super biased about that dating a scorp with scorp rising. on me, i think i project it rather than want something from it. i have so many things in life that im after, chasing a zodiac personality is the last thing i'm concerned about. if i wanted to come off as scorpio it would only be a means to an end for something else that i want lol cappy... "i use"

i had a mistaken rising sign for a long time too. had the am/pm swapped and it landed me at gemini rising somehow... which makes zero sense because i'd think it would be taurus. but w/e... there were some things that made sense about a gem rising on me... come to find recently it has a lot to do with planetary aspects and houses. nod to seraph... gracias!

i have ZERO interest in being a cancer. Ive read that we all want to be more perceived as the opposite of our rising sign. I would agree with that. I want to be taken more serious like a Cappy and less naive like a Cancer.

I identify with my scorpio rising, but I like the cap sun better!

I am a little of both! It has only taken me a VERY long time to accept my rising sign, Aquarius. My Sag (sun sign) usually gets the best of me!

Ehh..To the OP, I'm vice versa of your sister. I'm Aquarius sun, rising Cancer. It's a complicated push pull mix of emotions. I do get a little more emotional and sensitive than most Aquas, and. I . HATE . IT. I'm stoic, but inside, there are so many emotions for me to process at any given time. It's like I wish my brain would just choose to be either Aqua or Cancer, not both.

I am a Leo with a sag rising....My lord I do see it in myself. Only because I am surrounded by Sagittariuses!

My rising is GREAT for me. I'm sexy as hell, competitive, and fearless. Add my sun sign, quick witted, intellectual, observing, and very analytical. Wait... Now that I think about it, this combination screws me up!!! Take this with a grain of salt.
