Saddened by it. 😢

It's WORLD NEWS ppl. Yall should be affected. U should be ashamed of yourselves for not.

Innocent people dying? And that doesn't make you sad, or compassionate at all?

Wow, yal are pretty fuckin heartless. Makes me look at alot of the users here on dxp differently.
We shouldn't be affected.

Sympathy is ok, empathy no since you don't know them personally. You can't really care for any person on the planet, sligthly overwhelming if you ask me.

Initially I felt apathy because incidents like this happen all the time all over the world that go unnoticed. Which leads me to believe certain lives and bodies are more valued than others and deserve our sympathy and compassion more than others. I mean if we're going to light a vigil for Paris then light a candle for the children in Palestine too, do it for everyone, everyday

Sparking a rollie the next morning, talking with my boy I was like "you know they're going to shut borders now if they say the killers were Syrian?" But even then certain refugees and migrants are favored by the public more than others. Syrians are acceptable because they're fleeing Isis that's a go, but economic migrants, nah bro. I mean African bodies were being found washed ashore in Europe as far back as 2006 - the world did not give a shit. In fact the discourse used to describe current migrant crisis by the media and politicians was disgusting. Comparing humans to insects "swarms" really? Similar language the Nazi's used to describe Jews. The world didn't stand up until the bodies of two dead children were pictured

The latter points were brought up in a conversation with a friend I had with earlier this week, she was raised in Europe as a refugee and had spent some time in Paris as well. We discussed the racism she experienced there and where she grew up in Holland. She told me about the Banlieue neighborhoods in Paris where minorities are pushed outside the city into projects and the racist policy enforced by France's right-wing government. All the while we were talking, on the table next to us were a couple of French girls.. I made eyes with them briefly but continued talking anyway paying no mind. She recommended I watch the movie La Haine - in fact I was going use an image from movie as my profile pic the day the news hit but thought better of it.

I went from apathy to anger and then to contemplation as I poured over the coverage and reflected on the incident in the grand scheme of things, right now I'm just numb for other reasons, but I feel I need to understand more about this

Can this help?

When the French start to flee what countries would open doors for them?

It sure wouldn't be Iraq
there's still war in iraq.

seriously, how dumb are you? can't you see that these people are also trying to run away from war?

ignorant dumbass.
You are a fucking idiot.

Within 10 years the small native populations like England and France are going to be deserts.

Wars in Iraq will be fought from Europe.

How would you like to see Paris become the capital for the next caliphate
you're a moron, b

When I first heard, I felt a little sick. I called some friends, British nationals living in Paris to make sure they were okay. I couldn't get a hold of them, but they called me in the morning. I stayed with them in the Spring. I'm a long time fan of Eagles of Death Metal and keep meaning to go to one of their shows. It was a bit upsetting. I'm tired. My father served in the military when I was little. I'm originally from London where any trip I made, my parents would look on the calendar before giving me permission to go somewhere. Any significant holidays, I wasn't allowed to go to busy public places. IRA or Al Qaida were names I was very familiar with as a kid. I've watched the daily terrorist attacks in other places in the world and there's this disheartening feeling of the world sliding into a bizarre WW3 that isn't between nation states but terrorists and the rest of us.

It's nothing new, but every time terrorism inserts itself into places I've lived and worked it takes a little out of me. I was 14 and living in London when the July 7th attacks happened. Random bombings going off in places within a short distance of our home. I was told an elusive 'they" want us to be scared and thinking that it was working. My Grandmother described the Nazi's bombing London when she was little (she wasn't evacuated). She explained it was to demoralize us. That is a better word for how I feel about it. Not that I'm willing to let terrorists get what they want. I'm still going out every day and living my day to day life. I still fly. I'll still go to concerts. I'm supposed to be defiant or shrug it off. That's what British society teaches us. Terrorism has been a fact of life since long before I was born and I worry we're slowly turning into a war zone. It's not just Syrian refugees creating this problem. There are radicalizing Brits. No nation could stand against Rome, their enemies joined the barbarians and wore down the beast.

I still think for the Schengen zone to work, all countries need to share the burden of cost for securing it. People should be rescued from the Mediterranean and placed in refugee camps whether they want to be or not. People found without passports should be placed in refugee camps. There shouldn't be a shortcut for anyone who bypassed refugee camps for shorter waits. And I think if we're going to take in refugee's, priority needs to go to the refugee's who have been waiting 30 years without a home. People in Dadaab have waited 20 years trapped in refugee camps, unable to leave and with children who have never stepped foot outside of these camps. While the Syrians have my empathy, they shouldn't get to skip ahead of people who haven't had citizenship in any country for decades. They've been patient. Why are they being bypassed? They're in as much danger as the Syrian refugee's and many don't even qualify for a passport. Sorry for long post.

Conflicted. On one hand it's incredibly unfortunate for the victims, their loved ones, and all the people there who are now probably living in fear.

However I feel like the strong media reaction highlights a tendency of human nature in that no one really cares if this type of thing happens in an undeveloped country, which it does all the time. so I suppose either those countries have exhausted their "sympathy rations" (to the eyes of the media at least), or if people simply accept atrocities the in those countries because it's normal for terrible things to happen there. While in France, not so much. So it disturbs the general first-world public that another wealthy country has endured a major tragedy, prob because they worry it could be their country next.

However, this leads up to my main sentiment on this. Absolute disappointment that people cannot seem to fucking just be peaceful together. And for what, different imaginary sky daddies people believe in? It's a fucking excuse for people to not admit their true motivations. Otherwise, why is religion still not universally considered a personal matter that is none of anyone else's business?

We can fucking do better, but we just refuse to. If we'd wise the fuck up, then people in developed and underdeveloped countries alike could live with so much less fear. We could access so much more potential as humans when not spending energy fighting among one another over bullshit.

Sorry for the long rant.

It's too much for me. Any suffering, anywhere in the world, makes me feel so sad.

And I'm living in a possibly threatened European country ...
i live in a country where ISIS will most likely set up their asian base to plan attacks on neighboring countries like malaysia and indonesia

It's a burden but there are people who can't turn that internalizing of other's suffering off, namely me. Haha. But I appreciate your distinction.

@backtokemet,

I like your post. we are not that good. system vs. indivudal? yeah, interesting thought......

the thing is only:
despite all the stupidy in our heads we are still (still) in a not-bad place.

compared with the hate some of us feel for the others, we are civil with each other. What would have been if we all wanted to be that active as the radicalists————??

I've always been one to tune the outside world off as it deeply saddens me. However the news of the attack on Paris was quite an sickening feeling, I knew it would only create more hardship and heartache. I stopped following once I had heard the news that those assholes were caught, and am just hearing of the retaliation this morning.. which sickens me to an even greater degree. I am still in the mind frame I always have been in.. This world is a disgusting and terrible place, my only hope is that Mother Nature fights back and wipes us all out. That is what we deserve and I hope she comes down on us in full force. Humans are scum and my opinion will never change.. WE ALL DESERVE TO DIE. Give the planet back to the wildlife and I'll rest easy.
honestly i don't think we all deserve to die. yes i'll admit, SOME people deserve to die. the bad ones. you know, the bullies and those who picks on the defenseless who see those that are weaklings like myself seen as weakling. but i proved to one person in real life the hard way. tho i do agree with pretty much everything else you posted.
I don't view myself as a bad person, but I am part of the problem.. we all are. We all use items of convenience everyday, a lot of these things create more problems in the long run. I've littered, I drive a car, I've done things that are not of benefit for our planet.. I am a problem, maybe not on a larger scale such as the people behind all of this terror and destruction.. but I have done plenty in my life time that makes me feel unworthy. I just hit a skunk while driving last week (it was the first time I've ever hit anything) that effected other beings.. that skunk could have had a family that was relying on him to get back safe and sound for the survival of the rest of his family, but I came along cruising in my car and just fucked up their whole day. Everything, even the little things effect something else.

I've been trying my best to help spread equal awareness about not just praying for Paris, but the entire world since our news media fails to value each life equally. You see the true mentality of majority of the world and corporations during times like these when Safety Checks and specific flag cover generators are released for hand picked situations. Regardless of what nation was a victim, lives of those who have passed has had their voices unwillingly taken, it's up to the rest of the living to give their lives some kind of recognition.

I also have friends whose states received threats by ISIS but it's hard to grasp they're empty given how they're so unpredictable. I already have enough stress in my life, I shouldn't need to worry if my loved ones will remain whole or not just because some mofos want to pull a call of duty real life expansion pack.

THAT FAKE ATTACK WHERE NOTHING HAPPENED?

Yeah Im fine about it thanks.

Thing I aint fine with is the new violence against Syria which is the whole point of this false flag attack....
Could you say a little more....are you saying all those people were actors then?

There are several possibilities, they HAVE releashed some footage of murders now...it could be the government. There's no way a terrorist group could organize this, cause they're surveiling every person in the country with technology you've never even heard of.

The refugees from Syria are USA/Israeli people, or the mercenaries they hired, and they carried out the attacks under gov orders.

Unreal that Carlos makes this topic about himself and his alleged bullying once more.

You seriously have no decency.

no you got it all wrong. if you want to talk about having no decency it's all you ones that put in so much efforts in your hearts to have sympathy for the majority of the people in the world who practically don't care much about you. i mean we're talking total strangers here and what's even worst is to make a damn thread about it. now that's having no decency. the user above you said it best babe......don't care.

Having sympathy or not is an individual choice. Topic is still about recent events in Paris and not about you bitching about bullying, which is a pattern you always do with every new account you sign on dxp with. It has to be about you and being bullied and I assume you'll spiral into fire signs are evil people soon..because you are that predictable and lame. On top of that, out of all people who would bitch about being bullied...you have some nerve to say people pick up on you when you admitted you beat up your wife.

I have a lot of people who care about me, if you don't...it's not the world being cruel to you or bullying to you. It's just your shitty personality, if you act in real life the way you constantly act on dxp.

Anyway, not derailing this topic further. Adieu.
