I don't know why anyone would work hard on something they have no talent for, unless they're in a position where they have to for existential purposes. But I sure see it in everyday life.

Sole hard work with little to no talent might show results with a lot of time, patience and persistence. But when someone talented comes along they're gonna reach the same level and beat it much quicker and easier. That's what talent is. Taking it in quickly and doing it with ease. The talentless hard worker will eventually bite the dust. Talent + hard work + luck is the success combination though.

Both talent and hard work. For example, I'm pretty artistic (and so is my dad), or so other people keep on telling me. I don't really get up and start drawing all that much, but I've practiced a lot when I was younger (I hardly ever draw anymore, since I don't like it all that much). With how much I drew in my younger years, I got better and better at it. I took a drawing class when I was in high school, and it taught me how to draw more realistically than I did before I took that class. So I think its a mixture of talent and hardwork.

Talent allows you to soar to newer heights. Hard work lets you beat the odds.

So I'd say both. The thing is, when you hit this point where your dreams start to manifest, you are working with a lot of talented individuals, with slews of strengths and weaknesses, and a host of potential. The only way to outshine them is to work hard imo.

There's this book called "outliers" by gladwell. It talks about it a bit more.

Talent without hard work doesn't get you very far. I'm a smart guy and that certainly got me through school but without hard work I will just fall flat on my face in some areas.
But the look on people's faces when you just do what comes naturally to you...

Sun in Capricorn, House X
Jupiter in Pisces, House XII

Extra:
Jupiter in 12th house
You are very sensitive, hospitable and are willing to offer yourself selflessly. You need to feel needed by others and will be very dependent on the reactions of others. This position will offer you a general protection throughout your life though you must learn to be more orderly, especially with important or legal papers. Your great compassion makes you a good candidate for professions such as medicine, nursing or social assistance.

Jupiter in Pisces
You feel naturally inclined to help others. You are very sensitive to the pain of other people, or animals; your great compassion makes you apt to be a doctor, a nurse or a veterinarian. You are very kind, warm and perceptive. In spite of possibly being very popular, you will continuously seek a calm place far from noises. You will have many fantasies and find it difficult to confront the world as it is.

Jupiter square Saturn - orb 2?? 54'
You must learn to recognize your limitations and to direct your energies in a more organized manner. It is probable that you are insecure about your potential and do not feel very sure of reaching your objectives. Success can come late in life and with it the feeling that you will never have true recognition. You could tend to be very realistic and materialistic but lack enthusiasm and courage to move. It is to be hoped that you have received from childhood the support and attention necessary, and that your parents avoided unfavourable comparisons with siblings or friends.

Jupiter square Uranus - orb 4?? 40'
You are very rebellious and will not accept rules or laws that are imposed on you. You are very enthusiastic, independent, nervous and disorderly. It is important that you learn to concentrate and direct your energies. You must also learn to be more moderate, to not act with exaggeration and to not be so critical.

Aquarius, Jupiter in Capricorn

In my opinion, hard work is more admirable and respectable than just resting on your talent. Maybe it's because I've learned a lot of lessons from resting on my talent... But really, a good work ethic is all you have left once your talent has run out or plateaued. It also makes you more appreciative for the things you do very well; you know that you busted your butt to be successful. It's very gratifying.

Could you please share with us your thoughts on how the question relates to the Sun and Jupiter?

i know. Jupiter is expansion and your LUCK.

here is a good link:

http://astrology.about.com/od/advancedastrology/p/Jupiter.htm<BR>
What is Jupiter in the birth chart?:

This is the sign and house position of the planet Jupiter at the moment of your birth. Traditionally known as the "Greater Fortune," Jupiter guides you to high ideals, a sense of purpose and what will bring you happiness. Jupiter determines whether your life journey will be smooth or rocky, whether you'll be stingy or generous, and your overall level of optimism.

Does Jupiter bring good luck?:

When orbiting Jupiter makes a favorable aspect to your Jupiter or another planet in the chart, this paves the way for good fortune. For example, if transiting Jupiter conjucts (aligns with) your natal Jupiter, you might get a financial windfall, a new job, a promotion, etc. However, like with any astrological lucky break, you may not be able to just kick back and wait for the shower of blessings. You've got to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.

What does Jupiter reveal about my destiny?:

Jupiter's gift is to guide you to your highest fulfillment and happiness. As the planet of expansion, some of its pathways are through learning, travel, challenges and philosophy. Jupiter in your chart drops clues about where and how to take leaps of faith. It shows the sphere of life (house) and the likely method (sign) by which you'll make those giant leaps

Jupiter is said to influence all the good and noble things of life, and lead each of us toward a higher purpose. With a favorable or prominent Jupiter, you could experience lucky serendipities at every turn. If your Jupiter has lots of frictions (squares) with major planets, you might have to make your own luck much of the time.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius, the sign of truth-seeking, learning, travel, philosophy and physical movement. For the non-Sadges, Jupiter in the birth chart shines light on an individual's spirit quest. It points toward the arena where optimism and faith can be stirred up, since it generates a sense of the hero's journey, life as a grand adventure.

There's a lot of talk these days about "creating abundance" and being in the flow of prosperity. Jupiter in the birth chart points to where you'll find rewards through risk-taking and growth. And that can mean mo' money, but also a sense that your life is evolving toward something meaningful.

The planet Jupiter casts out more heat than it takes in from the Sun, and likewise this is symbolic of an inspired person with a self-generated internal heat source. Jupiter's influence also helps you fan the flames of your passions, so you can fulfill your destiny. It encourages curiosity and openness that comes from the wisdom that engaging with life makes your world ever larger. In other words, Jupiter's resonance in the chart shows how you take in new ideas, cultures, people, and allow it to add color and dimension to your life."

--sounds awesome. No wonder Jupiter in Cancer is exalted.
