I just decided to write a fiction book. I've done a little research but none of it really haves what Im looking for. I wanted to know certain things like how long should the paragraphs be in the chapters, and how many paragraphs should be in the chapter? I just came up with the idea and a few characters just yesterday. I want the book to be somewhat the size of a Stephenie Meyers book(The Twilight Saga books). So should I write a chapter a day or a paragraph because I would like for it to be completed in the span of three months tops.

I also wanted to know if there was a book any one of you had to read what would you want it to be about and why?
Like what would be a book that you were the most interested in?

My genuine advice to you is not to get caught up in the formating or size constraints of creative writing. Honestly..just frigging write. As you write, the details you're looking on for advice on start to flesh out as you come into your own writing. Also, if its something thats seriously going to be published or release, the constraint details tend to come out then as well. At this point, don't let ANY of that prevent you from just putting word to paper.

If you need to look at it from a logical view, it tends to be much easier to trim something down to fit constraints than it is to come up very short to what constraits were later laid out.

My personal background on the topic. A lot of my experience in my 20's and early 30's comes from Production Work / project management on very creative titles. While a lot of that tends to be business related as well as just management, I'm a guy that HAS to have some sort of creative input on his projects. I have to be hands on. The one project I want to speak of is one where I had zero involvement in the project's management so all my energy was put into contributing to the creative side of the work. There was a pivotal part of the story where I had to write a huge dialogue for one of the major characters. The background of the character was that he was a respected, yet stubborn leader of his people. He knew his lands were going to overrun with invaders but in his own pride and arrogance didn't evacuate his people. Along with this, his daughter fought with him to seek help with potential allies, but again, his own stubborness allowed him to only see his way. Anyways the dialogue takes place after the fall where he is reconciling the destruction of his people, the loss of his daughter, and the final admission of the cause being his own pride and arrogance.

I was scheduled 3 days to write the dialogue. I took 5. I got yelled at. Oh well. 🙂
They said it was too long, I trimmed it down. They said it was too long again, I went to bat on why it was as long as it was. We compromised and still was able to retain getting the message across. We hired this older actor (very similar to the older gentleman that plays Gandolf in the Lord of the Rings movies, Magneto in the X-Men movies, etc) to take the role. It came out frakkin amazing.
