Ok so I met one recently he’s into my conversations, he initiates calls and texts and dates. Mine were just friends and getting to know each other.
Hes losing interest because he’s just not that into it anymore. Let him know how it makes you feel and if he cares he will make improvements.

I dated an aqua and same thing. Very interested in me in the beginning. Then bam! Much colder and it eventually ended.
Here’s my thoughts on the sock issue. He doesn’t like to be controlled and you’re trying to control him. Big no no. I have to wear socks to bed personally. If I work all day or whatever, I change my socks when I get home, usually after I shower. I never wear the same socks all day. But I don’t change into a fresh pair right before hopping into bed. My place is clean and I never once thought they were dirty before getting into bed.

Comparing to what it was "before" is pointless. That was the "get to know each other" phase, with a lot of new info to find and process.
The question is whether or not what he is doing now is good or enough for you. It could be that this is the way he is, in the way your socks issue show the way you are. Or it could be that he is getting more and more disenchanted by the prospect of a future with you.
Talk to him and find out which one is it, and most importantly, if a compromise can be reached. If one of you wants to change the other in ways that are neither reasonable nor possible, don't drag the inevitable for too long.
The question is whether or not what he is doing now is good or enough for you. It could be that this is the way he is, in the way your socks issue show the way you are. Or it could be that he is getting more and more disenchanted by the prospect of a future with you.

"Phone calls and check ins have fallen off." I feel like this is your deal breaker anything else with men I've been told you can work on him to change ie. the socks and being a home body (that one you might have to work on going out to things he likes to do)

I don't know about aqua men but I had an aqua girl who was just like this. Amazing at first but they don't continue as they start. They start being "themselves" lol . She started wearing dungarees I'm like nah 😁 I liked you before and she's "I like my dungarees they're comfortable" Then they start doing a lot to distance you whilst acting like they're doing it for the good of your relationship. Then eventually you realise you are not with them anymore 😅
It's like they don't really want a relationship they want you to be two independent people who somehow travel on the same trajectory. It's weird

Yes. I did tell him. He said he'd fix it. However, I see no real improvement.

I will say, the vibe is totally off now. I'm so much less interested because of the small and so unnecessary lies, stories that dont add up, and lack of communication.

And are they generally less concerned with cleanliness? I had to breakdown to him that you cant get in the bed wearing the socks that you walk around the house in. This may be a bit of my own issue but is it normal to wear house socks in the bed? All the bacteria from the floor is now in the sheets.
