Does he dislike me or is that normal? What to do?

I am a scropio and he's a cancer. Well, he doesn't use SNS stuff and use proper english even in text. He likes to read obviously and we had a 5mins conversation on school english (off topic)
So! Recently in a school production I got partner up with him and I really like him.
But the thing is, although we dance a whole lot together in the show, it seems like we got nothing to talk about with each other when we were alone. I think he's kind of guy who you should reach out for, but I am really anxious and don't know how to reach him. I asked him to a formal and he said yes. I was very happy but after that, we are still awkward.
Then today, I text him asking if he has time on weekend, he said "I'll be out of town, sorry" that's it.
I know probably I just over think too much but I really don't understand why conversation just doesn't seem to flow between us. For example, the director ask the actor and actresses to have converstations in the background after the dance, and all we have is silence, all the other people were having fun. And when he talks to other people, he seem to have fun, and smile a lot. So i'm starting to think that maybe is my problem? And when i like someone it take me a lot of strength to talk... Can anyone give me some tip?

That means you really like him and your mind goes blank around him. You are too much into your head and thinking of ways to talk. You must get butterflies around him as well. I was like that with a friend I develop feelings for and it took me forever to get out of the awkwardness i was projecting. When i like someone I get extremly shy and just end up staring at them lol.


Its you not him. You will have to force yourself to get rid of your nerves.

Sounds like you're both suffering from crush induced awkwardness. 😄

I'm guessing you're both in High School still, so with that said, here's some advice from someone old enough to be your mom: don't let your fear of rejection, looking foolish or vulnerable block you from having a chance with someone you might really click well with. Go out on a limb and let him know how you feel. Chances are huge that he feels the same way, and once that wall is crossed you'll both be able to loosen up and not be so tongue tied with each other.
