Leave things without closure? Just because your shy or scared of hurting someone? Seems kinda cruel and cowardly imo :/

What? Elaborate because I have no idea what you're talking about? Do you mean a friendship? A intimate relationship?click to expand
Both
A friendship I can leave without closure but an intimate relationship I need closure to really move on.

If I'm on good terms with someone then I never truly "leave". We may drift apart for whatever reason (school, work, moved away, etc.) but in most cases reconnecting in the future wouldn't be a problem. If I'm on bad terms with someone then leaving with closure is optional because I don't like you enough to even care anymore or I want to get away for you as quickly as possible.

Agrees. The more invested I become, then the more closure I would require. I like being on good terms with people I would see again in some capacity. If I really don't like you, then I'll just save myself and get out.

Selfish, I know. But I've had a few friendships that have ended with me just walking away from the person completely because the friendship cannot be saved and be tolerable to myself.

Usually, the hurting occurs before the walking away. I've had a few friends that just could not accept me the way I am and the dynamic could not be repaired.
Nope, not in a serious relationship.

I decided CapsRule's answer sounds right to me.

When I was younger, I preferred drifting away because I wanted to avoid an emotional scene or was too timid to come right out and say it. As I've grown older and perhaps grown more confidence I will gently break it off and be honest.

I like that quote. I also agree with Cheeky. Adults have to be responsible for their own emotions and their own closure.
