Goat ladies within the work habitat . . .

Hello there dear Goats,

What advice could you impart on a Stinger in regards to handling Goat ladies, who seem to end up being catty, in their unnecessary comments unrelated to work ?

Better yet, if you will, do share a bit about how you would manoeuvre within a positive or negative work environment and how you interact with others (what do you expect of others, what are your work ethics, I would hope to hear the good and the bad of it all etc.).

I am very outgoing at work, joke with everyone, get along with everyone. I work hard, and play hard too though , once the work is over. I do not entertain work gossip AT ALL. And dont fit in with a clique, I just talk to everyone, and network so that I always have a person *in my pocket* so to speak.

The only time im catty really, is if I am in a zone and someone isnt taking me seriously, which is rare, since I work in law enforcement.

Even inmates love me. LOL Despite doing my job and being the *good guy*.

I try to put a smile on peoples faces everyday, despite the situation.

I'm the same...apart of no clique, but I get along with and talk to everyone.

It happens, where someone is unnecessarily catty. I usually handle it by smiling at the comments, and ignoring them. They eventually get the hint that their time could be used elsewhere...or sometimes they don't get the hint as I think of the Pisces male I worked with that would get under my skin. I'd ignore his comments too, but he knew how to work a nerve.

Overall, I just ignore people and leave them to themselves.

Good question, I have no idea.

Perhaps because my personal and work ethic is entirely different from hers. She is a self professed laze and in many ways she confessed that she would love to be able to be as committed to living and working the way I do.

What she does not realise, is the many struggles I have had to overcome to get to where I am today, to reach such success.

Most women I know act like that at work. And some men.

Why not just ignore it and refuse to get involved in other peoples' crap? That's the best way to handle workplace bullshit. Do your job and ignore them.

Ah Bricks, but that has already been implemented ever since the beginning. You are assuming, that I take their catty, inappropriate, and unnecessary comments to heart.

I am quite a private individual, even at work, they are the ones continually barging into my space. You cannot possible ignore everyone, especially a team which you need to pull together to work as one. Learning to communicate with difficult personalities, is something that must be managed.

Why else would I ask, ignoring is easy, learning to find a way to make it work with these individuals, that is the hard part.

You're asking for advice, so you're not indifferent. Maybe not upset. Maybe just pissed off or frustrated.

There are only a few possible options. True, you can't ignore everyone every time, but you can ignore their bullshit. I manage a lot of people. I tell them where they can go with their bullshit. I tell them I don't care what they think about me, couldn't care less if they want to bitch about me and won't change what I'm doing unless the plan needs to change. I actually do come right out and say that. Get it out of the way. They can kiss my ass if they have a problem.

Some people want to cause problems, but I can get most people to cooperate and we just work around them.

You will probably think my advice sucked, but that's how I do it.
