Do you honestly believe in the term and what it stands for? Sometimes I do and other times I don't but the only reason why I do believe it sometimes is the fact that sometimes everyone's peaceful not knowing that Japan invaded Alaska in 1942, better off not knowing that 2 nuclear bombs nearly blew up over Western NC in 1961, better off not knowing that all communication in the world has been centralized in Area 51 (okay that one's not real but you get what I mean). Ignorance in some cases avoids panic and chaos and doesn't worsen the tensions to make thing worse. Small cases we're better off not knowing. But overall I think it's better to know so that way somebody could do something about and we don't live to regret not knowing- What if those two 40 megaton hydrogen bombs blew up over Goldsboro in 1961? But what are your thoughts on this?

Well ignorance is bliss is not the same as turning a blind eye.

"Ignorance is bliss" - someone is keeping something from you while you go about your business thinking everything is a-okay. You don't know that you don't know.

"Turn a blind eye" - you know something is amiss and you choose to ignore it. When shit hits the fan, you can't place all the blame on the guilty party if you knew it was going on.

But that's just how I see it.

True.

And your avatar makes me 😄

At OP... yes, it's nice to be unaware of the horrors in this world.

But is it good and right?

No.

On a personal level, yes. Proven to me many times. I was blissfully happy not knowing the full picture. But that's short term gain for long term pain. In the big picture, is it really worth it?

I usually cope with any form of pain. Long term pain is usually nothing to me, I prefer to know most of the time. Except for those few videos my friends showed me, that I will regret for the rest of my life 😢

I watched a documentary on the Chernobyl nuclear accident. The government told people they had to evacuate temporariy. People were not told the extent of the disaster. People went calmly and the process remained organized.

Had they known the extent of the accident and the liklihood they would never return to their homes, panic and chaos would have ensued, and the city wouldn't have been evacuated as quickly as it was.

Was the government right or wrong not to explain the true facts? Who knows, but it was probably best for the citizens health and safety that they didn't know the details at that specific moment.
