I have recurrent dreams about WW1 in which I am a French kid who gets pulled out of my home and put on the front line. They always have this signature melancholy to them.

The main part that strikes me about them is the atmosphere. Rural France in the early 20th Century. It's all very grave and sad yet even a little romantic.

it seems that, then, I'm lucky(??) to remember many dreams..almost every night that is..
most my dreams are weird, I'd say..
people from rl or people I actually know and interacts with this world hardly appear in my dreams..
most figures in my dreams are total strangers.. it's like 98% of the time I dream about strangers..
I'm not myself in my dreams, too, often times..
sometimes I am a man..a young man..a soldier.. or an middle aged man.. or a boy
or a woman..but still not myself.. a foreigner..a different race.. sometimes I am not even human..
I've got killed, been murdered in my dreams as well..
there's a dream in which I appeared as a soldier..a caucasian..aged around 25 or so..I was rolling in the mud..it was in the middle of a war.. I could hear the twang sounds of bullets flying right next my ears.. my vision was dim..because mud got in my eyes and my body was so tired of crawling on the ground for hours so far..
then I was captured by the enemy..and locked up in a jail..the floor was rock hard and all my clothes..soldier uniforms were wet and dirty..I was all alone in the cell..there was a small window on the wall..weak lights were coming through the light..and with that I tried to find a way out of the prison.. then the door of the jail opened.. there was another enemy soldier..he lifted me up by my elbows..very roughly and when I resisted, fought back, he kicked me hard in my gut..I stumbled down on the floor, wrapping my arms around the now churning stomach..
and the dream ended there..
that was quite a unique dream.. since I've never experienced any real war..and never been a soldier.. the experience was very foreign and new to me..
