Dream about a black dog?

Last night I had a dream. It goes like this: I, for some reason am on a vacation like trip with two other girls. I don't know them i my awake life but in the dream I knew them. We're in this cabin/big house in the woods. I remember the house was in Wisconsin. (I have relatives there.. but I don't really see or hear from them.) Anyway, we're at this cabin and I remember there were 3 levels to the house. And each floor I was on caught on fire then when I left that floor it went out. One of the girls said, "How does a house just catch fire and then go out?"

So, somehow I managed to get out of the house and I was in a field. The grass was tall. I'm 5'2" and I could just barely see over the grass. It was dark.. nighttime. I'm standing in this field and a circle of fire is around me. I'm trying to find a away out but the fire grows around me. Outside of the fire I see a big black dog with red eyes. Every way I turn... the dog is there on the other side of the fire.

That's all I remember of my dream. Can someone tell me what this means?

The dog was large.. like great dane size. It was in defense mode. It was scruffy/ratty and it's hair on it's back/neck was standing up.

I think it meant death because that day.. I nearly got t-boned by a lady at an intersection.
