i thought it would be cool to have a thread where people could post their product reviews. like, "this foundation really blows" or "THIS STRAIGHTENING SERUM ROCKS!"

i'll start with john frieda root awakening. i've been really curious to see how good it is, so i used the nourishing moisture shampoo and health infusing conditioner today for the first time this morning.

shampoo
pros: i love the way it smells, and it seems very gentle.
cons: not sure yet.

conditioner
pros: it smells like peppermint kinda! made my head numb enough that when i rinsed with cold water (i do that, supposedly it "seals the hair follicle" or something), i couldn't even feel it.
cons: i dunno yet if it "awakened" my roots, but that EXTREME tingling on my scalp definitely woke me up. in a way it feels kinda cool, but it's also uncomfortable.

would anyone else like to share?

I stick with Pantene too Ms.P. I've tried EVERYTHING from salons and nothing works as good for me as Pantene.
I have thin hair but it tends to be frizzy too (redhair usually is) it's baby soft and fine but..........ugh I can't seem to get the shiney look without my hair being greased up. I don't use alot of product in it because it makes my hair greasy fast. Yuck.

For masacra I use the exactlights from Covergirl. I like that it makes my eyes look really green. I have long thick eye lashes (I'm lucky trust me I know) so I don't have to get the volumizing kind. The downfall to my eyelashes is I have to wear mascara because they are blondish red. If I don't have anything on you can't see them. LOL Ew.

This is a brilliant thread.

Lancome mascara is a big no. Especially The curved Virtuose wand-it drys out before the end of the week because the shape of it is odd and so when you try to close it, it doesn't close properly! Hence the dry out.

For mascara i think price and brand doesn't have much to do with it. If you look at the testers you can see which types get clumpy easily or gloopy. I think having a defining one with a more toothy wand and a volumising one with a thicker less gapped wand is a good idea-using both.

Most of the beauty products I use are generic store bought brands, the only place I spend a lot of money in is make-up. And the brand I buy from is (duh) MAC since my sister works there and hooks me up.

I know I'm so lucky I have one sister that does hair (check), one sister that does make-up (check, check), and my mom does nails lol (check, check, and check). I was pretty much covered for prom lol!

But I love brand make-up because it has such better coverage than drugstore make-up (ie. The foundations love the mousse one from mac). The final product looks cleaner and more professional and is photo worthy.

MM- have you tried philosphy (I think that is what it's called) hope in a jar, I use that... It's kind of pricey though.

Lol GS I use pantene too!!! Though I love the products my sister use on me everytime she cuts my hair (she's a hairstylist) and it smells and feels like you just got back from the salon, I think most (not all) of the products she uses are L'oreal.

LOL I always thought the more money I spent on shampoo the better it would be (you get what you pay for) NO! I've used shampoo that was 20 bucks a bottle and it was horrible on my hair. I want to try the Dove shampoo (anybody try it yet?) But I keep coming back to Pantene.

Your a lucky duck Xtina. I wish I had sister to do stuff like that for me. I had to crash course it on my own😢 My Taurus sis is not into anything like that and neither is my mom. They think I'm vain. 😛

i love the dove shampoos. : )

and i agree that you can get hair-care products that work wonderfully without spending a lot. i rotate my shampoo and conditioner about 3x/wk and right now i'm using john frieda, pantene, and dove...no complaints.

but, NONE has ever made my hair look, feel, and smell as good as back to basics raspberry almond. cross my heart and hope to die it's the best shampoo/conditioner i've ever encountered, but it's about $ 20 a bottle so i don't buy it often.

+1 on the Biolage.

You really do get what you pay for though, in terms of Shampoo/Conditioner. Its not to say the Drug Store shampoos don't do the job, but some of the more pricey shampoos/conditioners give better long term results.

I still stand by Pantene being the best inexpensive one, atleast for my kind of hair.

I love the way Dove smells, but the conditioner doesn't penetrate my hair enough. I struggle detangling it, even with the conditioner in my hair.

Funny bout Scorps and their lashes, I guess you can't have bedroom eyes without them!

Missmorals, Eucerin sensitive skin moisturizer is hands down the best. Summer and winter. For winter you just add 2 coats...it's great stuff.
As far as cleanser goes, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is tops. It completely detoxifies your skin, and doesn't dry it out. It gives your face that plump dewy look that seems to diminish as we get older. It expensive, but you can find great deals on Ebay...not to mention it lasts a long time. an 8oz bottle lasts me a year.

AMBI is a GREAT facial product for black women and/OR women who have dark discolorations. It's gentle, smells nice & is very inexpensive. Matter of fact, they sell Ambi at most stores. It's great for women who have oily skin or eczema too.

For the ladies that love MAC, but yet can't afford it sometimes, Loreal's HIP line is a great substitute for high pigment eyeshadows & makeup. It gets the job done, is half the cost ( $ 7 max) of MAC products & is sold in most stores.

BIOFUSION is an AWESOME product for hair. 1 of the shampoos/conditioners in their line smells like rosemary mint & oh boy, when you wash/condition your hair with this product, your scalp feels the same way your mouth does when you're sucking on a peppermint: refreshing!

ION has some great products for "shine" when it comes to hair. Idk about the other products in their line (shampoos, conditioners, balms, etc.) but any products they have for "shine" are amazing & get the job done!

Sephora (store) is a little on the steep side price-wise BUT their makeup brushes are amazing & some of them are cheaper than MAC's brushes/applicators. BUT they get the job done.

Ladies, STOP buying shaving gels/cream! Those cans run out so quickly & alot of women still complain of getting rashes/cuts from shaving even after using them. Start coating those shaving areas with BODY WASHES! It gets the job done, I'm telling ya! 1. Body washes are often thicker than shaving gels, so the chances of you cutting yourself while shaving drop dramatically. 2. They last a helluva lot longer than shaving gels/creams do AND 3. They smell wonderful, so you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone: Be completely shaven AND smell wonderful!
