If someone told you that you had beauty that "goes against the grain" how would you take it?
Beauty That Goes Against The Grain
I'd be like "fank you very much, fanks! and so does yours!" Everyones beauty SHOULD go against the grain. It's good to be compared in this sense. The grain? Who cares about the grain/standard.

I see. Thanks for helping me understand better calthrope. It's just that I have never heard anyone put it that way before.

lol
especially on the "...fanks" love it!

To me that is a very nice compliment b/c it's saying you are beautiful but not in just the "run of the mill" beauty but more unique.

Goes against the grain?.... define grain? What is a grain? It's that that one thing used in the kitchen, the place I never really spend time in unless I'm hungry... Why grain though? Like, is grain considered pretty or something?
If someone said this to me I'd stare at them blankly and confused.

i'd be ok with that comment.

a short anecdote: was out one evening and this guy kept staring at me. he came over and said i looked like a a heroine of fantasy comic...(still wondering what kind of fantasy comic he had in mind) so i was like, thanks hehehe!!! 😄click to expand
Gosh, haven't checked back on this topic in a while. Thanks Pesca. I definitely took it as a compliment. I know the lady really well so I knew intuitively that she meant it in a good way I just wasn't very familiar with the term at the time.

I would think the person meant you aren't the "cookie cutter" image of beauty or exotic
Yeah, SV. I think I like my beauty being referred to as "going against the grain".

Yes, Spp. That is what I got from it initially when she said it. Was quite young at the time and didn't ask her to repeat in layman's terms. LOL.

Alrighty then, ninjamu. If you're ok with it, then I'm ok with it. ;O)

Hey Dianasart,
The grain would be the 'norm' just as Pesca pointed out.

I would take the reference to the heroine of a fantasy comic as a compliment too. I mean...what heroine of a fantasy comic isn't beautiful or sexy in some way? Can you think of any?

i am not into comics, i would not know any names lol.
My bust, that was sort of a rhetorical question. It seems to be sort of a rule that comic heroines be cute or attractive in some way. I mean, I've never seen an unattractive one.
