OH GOD YES! LOL, but I don't think it is too far...actually I think it is rather prudent. THIS way, you have basic knowledge of how the persons mind thinks (generally speaking of course). I could go on and on but I am tired. I ask for their birthday rather than sign b/c many wouldn't have a clue what their sign is. Then it will either explain something for me or I can approach that person in a more comfortable way (for them).

I don't always feel the need to ask, and the astrology thing may pop up in my head by my subconscious saying "Oh, cool, this person is a Gemini", or "Chrrrrist, they have GOTTA be and Aries mark 2!" LOL.

I tend to break it down into fire earth air and water and then go from there, if I don't feel like asking. Usually pretty accurate.

SimplyMe, everything you said makes sense. And though I know these things logically, I still find myself having some (not too ingrained, but they're there) preconcieved notions about people based on their sign. But, I don't immediately ask their sign withing 5 minutes of meeting them, like I said. I give it time and try to figure them out on my own first, which is kinda fun! I think as long as we don't become too close minded, or too judgemental of people using astrology, then it's okay to play around with the stuff. I will say that in my life, personally, much of what I've read about the different signs has been scarily accurate, if it wasn't, I would have shrugged astrology off as silly and meaningless. But I agree at the same time with a lot of what you said.

Yes...I can see your point SimplyMe...
I also like to know their birth order, rising and moon sign, shoe size, how they were raised, where they were raised, what their parents were like, their thoughts`ideas`and feelings, and a gazillion other things!

People are complex and cannot be put into simple categories. Their Natal Astrological Chart is only one piece of the puzzle, and their Sun sign is only one piece of the Natal Chart pizza...though, it is the largest slice.

It is always fun to get to know someone new...but, you are right, it is good to keep in mind that they are multifaceted! Excellent point!

SimplyMe,
Did you became obsessed with astrology ever since you became involved with your Scorpio?
As for me,I developed a sort of fascination with Scorpio sign-but only with the "eagle-phoenix wing".I mean i'm not interested in people of whom their essence is rotten, bad, evil. What I mostly like are people that may display an outter shell of wickedness, toughness, coldness but to have a soft, good, warm core.I feel so rewarded and among the very few chosen when the acces to their intimate space is permited to me.I get the sensation of being very very rich-it's like I posses a secret treasure.

Hi Bella!
I have read that the Rising Sign is what we present when people meet us...however, when people are in a comfortable setting and simply mingling and having fun, I think it is their Sun Sign that is presented the most. The Rising Sign being the astrological 'mask' is reserved for those moments when they are not as comfortable (like in a job interview...)...
But, then again some astrologers believe that we are all of our natal chart combined...sort of a mix that is impossible to totally analyze (at least not simply)...
What do you think?
I loved your description about the secret treasure...you put that beautifully!

SimplyMe...I also meant to tell you that I didn't mean that Capricorns are boring...I actually really admire you guys! I just wanta be silly and I won't let myself sometimes...and it gets to me! LOL! So, I blame my rising sign...but, I should face the fact that there are a certain amount of tasks in life that require all that my rising sign helps me to accomplish...and without that, where would I be?? It is not realistic to be silly all the time! I am just going through mid-life crisis or some such awful thing!
Best to you!
