I rarely use it and I also never need it either. I notice everytime I start to use it too often, I become dependent on it.

Just a thought... but, olive oil might be a good option or even canola. Vaseline is a petroleum product, that in itself seems wrong to put on your lips or anywhere for that matter...

Amandus - I have heard Carmex is also bad for you, however I will admit I don't know enough about it. The reason they say it is bad is because your lips become addicted to it.
Amandus .....quit kissing all those girls and maybe your lips wouldn't get so chapped. 😉 hehehehehe j/k

I did some searching and its not that there is anything addictive in Carmex its that there are ingredients that actually dry out your lips which in turn make you want to apply more and more of the stuff on in between short periods of time. Carmex is really meant for cold sores and pimples... On the bright side I've never gotten a cold sore on my lips while using Carmex...

My lips get chapped quickly in any weather, no matter how hydrated I am on any day. I hate it when my lips get chapped so I freak out internally when I find I don't have lip balm on me on me.
With that said I bought this Aveeno Lip Conditioner to try out after running out of carmex a few days ago. As soon I as stepped out of the store I wiped whatever was left of the carmex from my lips with the back of my hand, opened the the package, and applied some on my lips. The first thing I noticed while I was applying it was that it smelt wonderfully of Vanilla. I almost wanted to twist it all the way up and eat it. When I got home I found it looked greasy on my lips which made my lips look girlish. I didn't care at the time because I was just happy to have "lip balm".
You see, my lips were already super soft, smooth, and moisturized from the Carmex. The next morning I felt that my lips were already starting to chap when I woke up. Naturally I rushed to the appraised, new, lip balm and then felt I was okay. About an hour later I pursed my lips and it felt like my lips were still chapped--felt somewhat like those exfoliating hand soaps/sanitizers or face washes except with less exfoliators. Thats when I realized that the lip balm did not moisturize and heal.
Its basically lip gloss. Maybe its just my lips and perhaps only medicated ones will work on me. I don't know. But I am disappointed. I wasted three bucks on a stick of non-moisturizing lip-shining lube. Aveeno lies!! 😢
Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand? I was thinking I should stick to Carmex but I'm getting real tired of smelling like cherry and I'm not too fond of the regular scent either. I'm also thinking of giving Burt's Bees a chance since I've read that it does its job similarly to Carmex and Burt's Bees is supposed to be all natural. Like Carmex you feel some sort of tingling sensation on your lips and people say it smells like peppermint. That tingling sensation tells me it works.
