Thomas Paine wrote a book in 1776 that basically questioned how effectively British parliament could govern colonial Americans when the parliament had no idea of what Americans actually needed. He also stated that if America was to declare independence, how effectively could the British military quell any resistance when logistically, they have to send troops by boat. Common sense ya? This was common sense back then that initiated great changes, but why are there so many bills and legislature and laws that don't make common sense these days?

My point in saying all this, is how much common sense does regressive taxation make? When regressive taxation was initially implemented, it worked for the first year. The theory around this method of taxation stated that if big corporate owners had to pay less in taxes, they would in-turn spend more which would garnish more jobs for American people and overall effect the economy in a positive way. This worked for ONE year, the theory collapsed after that one year when the same big business owners started pocketing that extra money. So why is regressive taxation still in effect? Does it make common sense?

Why is American media a monopoly? The first amendment states that freedom of press shall be protected...but was this inaccurately interpreted? Freedom of press is important because it ensures that the common man will stay informed on current topics and events. This is important but when around 5 major corporations own almost EVERY single method of disseminating information..what then?
