Does everything really happen for a reason? Or is it an excuse for not trying hard enough, accepting ones own fate or cushioning feelings of failure?

Does anyone honestly believe everything happens for a reason? Do new doors open when old doors close?

Why cant life be all packaged up in a neat little pile?

Has anybody had these experiences or similiar experiences when they have been disappointed and then pleasantly surprised when they've realised a 'bad' outcome or a failure has led to something even better but not expected. A similiar thing would be to take a wrong turn and realise that where you've ended up is even better than where you first wanted to go. Does this happen or is it a justification we use to cushion the blow of disappointment?

I always try hard at whatever I do, so I dont think it is about trying hard enough. How can you fail if you sincerely gave what you felt was your best!!?

I think circumstances and fate play the largest role and then how you deal with the CHOICES you have is the remainder of it. I think if you can see something in your mind so clearly and WANT it so badly you are going to SUCCEED!!! Nothing will stop you! Trust me, I have done this before lots of times. Now, if you sit back and think it is going to come to you, then NO! You will be dissappointed. You have to stay focused and know what it is you want. Some of us think we can do it all and that is why we fail. I would rather do one thing well then several half assed attempts at multiple projects or whatever. Its like trying to date two people at the same time! How do you give your best to both?
LG, you ask too hard of questions and ones that maybe cant know, but I do it to and then I just tell myself dont wonder just wait for the next mystery to reveal itself. There seems to be one around every corner!
Yes indeed, life is Good!
Have a blessed one!

I'm a big hindsight believer in fate ie. I look back and say to myself 'see - it all happened for a reason'.

In reality I'd be saying that to myself regardless of what happened. Good, bad, success and failure are words that tend to be absent from the way in which I look at my life - I find it causes too much stress if you try and quantify the past from the point of view of now - it's always going to be a different evaluation.

So...regardless of whether anything happens for a reason or not, the only real truth is that it has happened, and accepting that (for me it's telling myself it happened for a reason) allows you to deal with the situation without second guessing what might or should have happened.

Did that make sense? Sometimes I wonder. LOL.

i dont think that sometimes that things just happen for a reason. But sometimes i do. Like for instance, if my mom didnt pass away then i wouldnt know the ppl i know today and love. But if my mom was still alive, would i be saying the same thing? Maybe i would love the ppl that i know in that lifetime and wouldnt change it in the world, maybe things just happen without "reason"? Who knows... and i dont believe in "fate" either. Like for expample, if me and my boyfriend were to break up or ocme back together they would say "well thats up to fate" thats really i dont know. lol. I think thats up to us, we make the choice to make the relationship so obviously its our choice to end it or "come back together". And if those two ppl dont have chemistry, then they just dont. Its not because of "fate" some ppl just dont mesh in this world. But sometimes i DO think that things happen for a reason...but who knows =/

I think accidents happen cus people are lousy drivers and always in a hurry. I'm never in a hurry. If I have to be somewhere, I give myself plenty of time and drive defensively.

I really liked this answer. Things happen for reasons, yes but why? did you do it; did someone else create the outcome or what? does it matter? life goes on and yes, I am a big believer that fate is involved in everything we do! How we choose to except the mission is another story! We can fulfill destiny or destiny could be turned in to doom! Can you handle it—? If you decide to except it!

Thanks guys, i suppose what i mean is that sometimes i feel i try and try and keep coming up against brick walls. Im just wondering if maybe that's the Universes way of pointing me in a new direction? Sometimes things in my life just dont feel like they were 'meant to be' but then i think that maybe i am using this as an excuse for not trying hard enough or letting the obstacles get me down. It seems to me that if things are too hard or this hard is it worth persevering? Why not get to a point where you just let it go and try something new? Where is that point where you say 'ok, this is enough. It hasnt worked now so i need to move on'?

The question im really interested in is 'does the Universe or 'God' or whatever, point us in the right direction if we are doing the wrong thing? Is there a divine force that intervenes sometimes when we are WAY off our track'?

Do we have a life path or is life what you make of it?

Luz, sorry to hear about your mum, i didnt realise.
Thanks SQ for your advice on trying one thing at a time. At the moment i am trying to do two things really well but its just not working. I suppose that is the root to my dilemma.

Any comments on the above questions would be greatly appreciated no matter how cosmic, skeptical or silly they seem.

Have a good one guys,
Speak to you soon,
Libragirl.

LG,

You know yourself best. I can tell you what I would do but then we are not the same obviously! You sound as if you have alot of doubts, and in my opinion that is going to be your biggest obstacle to get over. You have to really have a goal and that goal is all consuming! You live, sleep, and breath for it! That is your mindset. Total obsession will work too or a one track mind. You have to remove doubt and believe that you what you want you ARE going to get. Once you get it, you could decide you dont want it anymore; but in the meantime, the goal is getting it!

About postive and negative vibes...
Your thoughts go out into the Universe and do affect your fate.
Are your thoughts positive (mostly) or negative (mostly)?
Doubts are negative.
Use positive affirmations daily! (I know I am a broken record...)
When you find yourself thinking negatively, redirect your thoughts to focus on the positive...

Start out saying something out loud (to yourself) daily...something simple such as "I am a lucky person. I am extremely successful. I am grateful for all that I have and for all that will come my way."
(Yes, luck does exist...tap into by believing in it!! Also BELIEVE you will be successful...see it! Being grateful, while excellent in itself, somehow works magic...you begin to see the whys and stuff...it could take you to a different path...though similar...it opens doors...)
I beseech you to try it!!

You don't have to use the words I suggested...type in 'positive affirmations' in an internet search...find what feels comfortable for you...the deal is to say it daily...eventually it becomes reality!!
I wish you the best!

LG,

DONT EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM! That is the reason you have to get up everyday and if that is what makes you happy, then do it. Because in IMO if you are HAPPY, you are already SUCESSFUL whether you are rich or poor! But dont forget your responsibilites if you have them. And I know I dont have to tell someone with alot of Virgo or Capricorn in their charts to be takin care of business, they already do, most of them! Just use common sense. I love adventure too, but not just so I can thumb my nose at conformity. What would be the point. It takes money to live unless you can live for free and nobody can, that I know of. Are we getting more childish as we get older or what—?

WB, Lol! Yep, lots of virgo and capricorn; i certainly DO take care of business! Its always been a HUGE priority of mine, probably too much so, hence my dilemma. Very good memory 🙂

Yes, you've all got me thinking. I am going to be positive Star, thanks for your ideas about affirmations.

Yes, be positive, be positive, be positive and follow your dreams 🙂I suppose the thing is that ive already had some pretty good opportunities in the field im interested in but i turned them down because i have a phobia of airoplanes and they required that i fly, quite a lot. Now i realise that i will not be happy unless i follow what i am truelly good at and my dreams and that involves getting over my phobia of enclosed spaces. Can you imagine how depressing it is to be stranded, virtually, in one city because i won't get on an airoplane and with S11 happening in a plane, i am totally freaked out! I had just about overcome my phobia and then bammo... The funny thing is that 3 months prior to the attacks i had a series of dreams about planes diving head first into the ground.

Anyways, i think i am just going to have to start again, build my dream up from the ground again and if i have to fly then i will face that issue when i get to it. I spose the pain of not doing what i want to do has bought me to a place of realisation that i must overcome my neurosis about flying or else i will never be truelly happy. I was trying to avoid facing my fear but now i dont think i can do it any longer. At one stage i couldnt get on a bus or in an elevator and I couldnt even leave the suburb i live in or i would have an anxiety attack. Ive managed to get over all of the above except the flying. Hmm, what to do... Sorry for dumping this but i think its an issue i have to face. Its the only thing holding me back from my goals, its going to, and is currently, ruinning my life.

Any thoughts on phobias?

See ya guys,
LG.

PS. I just have to add, getting me on a plane is like getting a cat in a cage. You've seen the way they resist? Well, that's me. Ive even been on one and just before it was about to take off i told the flight attendant i was getting off. Of course i wasnt allowed and i was subdued but its hard for me, i dont know what happens. I just feel like i am going to lose control.

Anyway, i thought that was a funny story!

Seeyou guys,
🙂

Hi Libragirl, to put it simplistically, I believe that every single thing that happens to us in life was meant to happen. I believe that fate touches every part of our lives, and that there is a cosmic "blueprint" for every single soul which is "drawn up" so to speak before we incarnate on earth. I believe that every event, every thought, every person we come in contact with, is exactly what or who was meant to affect our lives. That is not to say we have no control. I think you can believe in fate and still have control over your life, or at least the perception of control over it. But I think that even the worst decisions we make and the worst experiences we have in life, happen for a purpose. To teach us something, and to further our spiritual growth both collective and individual.

Just my thoughts 🙂

Hey Phoenix, nice to see you back! I like the way you just 'scoot in' (to the boards) like you've never been away!

Hmm, i suppose im wondering that even if you try so hard at something and it still doesnt work out, if that's the way of the Universe in telling you there is something more appropriate or apt for you to be doing. I understand what you are saying in that 'every experience is a character or soul building thing'. Maybe i should 'let go and let god' a little more.

Cheers 🙂
Libragirl.
PS. I'll be back for some hardcore posting soon, just a little busy now and taking some time out to answer some questions quickly.
Just like the title reads!

I would really like to know what it is!

I think we have too many boards, our community is becoming fragmented! What ever happened to the heated discussions we used to have on the misc. board?

Do any of you guys forgive easily? Or do you hold grudges? I always seem to hold grudges against people who have hurt me in the past. Maybe I just want to protect myself from getting hurt again, but maybe I'm just being stupid. I dont know...

I find it childish that people get upset because they can't get what they want. I don't think god made this world for one person, and you will have some ups and downs. Please deal with it like everyone else. What do you guys think?
