After all my wayward years of doing stupid things in and out of cars, living in blatant disregard of the laws and never ever being caught......tonight......tonight of all nights, when I've well and truely slipped into the realm of old and boring, I get breathalized......

......and lo and behold! I'm over the limit!!! So, now my license has been suspended for 24 hours, I've left my car in some god knows where alleyway in the valley and I'm officially a drink driver!

LOL@karma

LOL@irony - I'm sure the reality of the situation will sink in tomorrow (oh that's right, I'm still drunk), just needed to have a bit of a vent!

LOL Libragirl - for some reason, I find the whole situation a bit funny, possibly because it hinges on a succession of bad luck events. If i'd stayed just five minutes longer before going home, I would have missed the rbt alltogether (as my car pulled up they said 'ok lets pack up for tonight, this'll be the last one').
If I hadn't been so enamoured by the fact that the alcohol was free, I probably would have paid more attention to the fact that the wine glasses looked a lot bigger than one standard drink (only had four in five hours!).
If i wasn't so disorganized, I would have had time for a meal before i left (though i don't know if that even makes a difference).

I'm sure there's a silver lining here somewhere - just have to fumble around in the dark clouds a bit longer before i find it.

Suzy - thank god I'm not in america! Here there's no drunk school (though I'm just dying to learn how to become a proper one), your rates don't go up and I don't even know what an SR22 is. There's a mandatory one month suspension which can be appealed if you need your car for work (time to get a job as a taxi driver!) and a fine of about $ 250 - not sure whether it's recorded as a conviction.

At least you don't normally drink... still, not to deflate any feeling of righteousness you may have at this being the first time this ever happened, you were drunk driving... and once is enough for an accident (which can be said about a lot of things). Anyway, it seems like you're getting more problems than people here get... I always here of drivers who get right beck on the road after drunk driving volation.
