So, I've been debating about getting my nipples pierced on and off for a couple of years now. Several months ago, I finally decided that I wanted to get them done; I plan to get them done in a couple of months. I've already researched them over and over, so now I'd love to just hear stories and opinions from anyone who has theirs done or who had them done in the past. I'd also like to hear opinions from anyone who doesn't have it done, as well. These will be my last piercings (I have 9 already), so I decided I'd like to go out with a bang.

I played with the idea but decided not because I breast fed the children. That and I know more than a few pierced peeps and they get them caught in clothing, or other. They say it makes them extremely hypersensitive to cold too. Always have THO with them in ( sheer clothing, t's and so on, hey ho howdy ). Other than that if it's what you want to do, go for it. 🙂

You can actually breastfeed fine if you have them pierced. That's the main thing I looked up when I was researching and they don't impede breastfeeding at all as long as there is no scar tissue (that alone is caused by other factors and not something that happens all the time). I am a little worried about them snagging on things, but I've take care of my other piercings very well and have kept them from migrating, snagging, ripping out, ect.

Healing time was very quick for me. Noticeable improvement in a couple of days, and I think it was pretty much sealed up in like 2 weeks.

To clean it, I used a plastic cup filled with a warm water/sea salt mixture. You place your breast/piercing inside and let it soak. With clean hands, I slowly rotated the piercing back and forth.

ALWAYS wear a bra. A snug one with full cups is best. If your hoop is on the outside, switch it back and forth between above and below your nipple when wearing your bra. Once or twice a day, so you don't irritate it. Doing that kinda 'trains' your piercing to feel comfortable in both positions.

I won't lie. It was definitely the most painful piercing I've gotten. I don't have any genital piercings, but I've done my nose, naval, tongue, ears, and ear cartilage. The pain was over quickly, though, and there was no residual pain (like with the tongue piercing :/).

This might seem like common sense, but it's really important to, um, not let anyone suck on it before it's healed. 😛
Due to potential infection.

If there's anything else you want to know, feel free to ask.

🙂

I don't really plan on getting hoops. I'm getting barbells because I find them more attractive.

I've heard healing time can take months, and that even then, soreness can occur for a while. While I understand that you shouldn't let anyone play with them until their done healing, there really is no way to tell how long it will heal since everyone is different. I have to say, I like having them played with, so I may bring that up with my piercer.

Good! I was probably being overcautious in any event. 🙂

I too have a lot of fun and secret body piercings. So this is what I know about this topic...

You already know how to clean and care for piercings, so I have nothing to add to that. Properly placed, piercings do not impede any natural function of breasts and nipples, including breastfeeding.

Unless you wear some Janet-esque huge blingy nipple shield, or your shirts are all crochet or eyelet lace, you won't catch them on things. (Don't sleep naked and wrapped in an afghan! OH! And be careful when showering with one of those mesh body scrubbers, that's an accident just waiting to bring you to your knees! haha!) Sensitive to the cold? Not more than any other body part.. if yer nips are cold, cover them haha Sensitivity can go either way, I've heard.. some get more sensitive (and I mean this in a good way) and some can get less sensitive (I would daresay that's when they're improperly placed/pierced by an amateur OR a lot of scar tissue develops.)

The other thing about pierced nipples... the piercings tend to keep them in a near-erect state pretty much at all times.. without a padded bra, that shit is obvious through your clothing. Again, if your jewelry is showing through your shirt, cover it.. or.. flaunt it, if that's your kick hehe

Oh, and yes, they can take a loooong time to heal.. everyone is different. Mine didn't give me any major troubles, but took probably a year to be fully healed and stop getting "tender" on occasion -- but needless to say, I was not following that whole "don't touch or play" thing FOR A EFFING YEAR!?! Just no touchy if they were feeling sore, and they got more sensitive, so I had to gently instruct someone to be a tad more gentle with his fingers and mouth.. and for that year, there were occasions when they were tender enough I DIDN'T want them touched for a few days. Bactine spray with its little bit of numbing effect was my saviour! (NO peroxide, NO alcohol, NO Neosporin.) Only Bactine or A&D or Bag Balm.

I'm way too impatient and couldnt' way for a year to have them played with. Also, when I'm in that mood, well... 😛

I'll keep the bactine spray in mind! I wouldn't have even thought of that! 😄

Oh, I have hoops and barbells.. I tend to prefer the barbells and wear those 98& of the time. I also have some "bling".. these almost horseshoe shaped gem things to be put on the barbell.. just for special occasions.. I wouldn't advise wearing them all the time anyway.

Maybe I'll find some pics and post them.. to be hidden again in a few minutes, mind. hehe

So, I didn't even get to see the pictures because I'm a nanny and I was off playing a board game with my kids. Do you mind sending the picture to me via message, Nefer?

I think I might just be a simple girl when it comes to my piercing jewelry. Since I end up with so many and in such different places, I balance it out with less bling. I have larger breasts too, so I figured the barbells would just look better.

I've had mine pierced twice.

Not really painful to get it done. They can be really tender for a couple days. First time took about a year for them to heal up, but they ended up rejecting.

I took them out and got them redone. They were pierced a little bit deeper. Looked good. Healing up nicely and then I had to remove them when I got arrested and put in jail. They closed up over night.

First time, I had 16g rings. Second time, I had 14g rings.

I think the rings look better on males because they have smaller nipples. Most women have bigger nipples so the barbell looks a lot better. My ex had barbells.

I didn't lose sensitivity, but I didn't gain any either. They just look good to me.

I highly recomend getting them. They're sexy. Fun to play with.

I plan on getting them done one more time. Hopefully I won't lose them again.

Thanks for the insight, Dazed. I've always found them to be pretty sexy as well; I wasn't sure if I wanted them for myself, but lately, I really like the idea.

And I agree, barbels are much cuter 🙂. Good luck.. Oh, are you able to take pain keds b4 hand? Or alcohol? Lol. Lemme know cus I've been thinking of getting a delicate piercing aswell...... lol.

Lol well I have a high pain tolerance because I have 9 other piercings and I got a tattoo on my foot. I heard that the first nipple doesn't hurt, but the second might because you are expecting the pain. I figure I could take ibuprofen (I did that before my tattoo, but it didn't really do much). I just focus on something right as the piercing is going in so that I don't have to focus on the pain. 3 months isn't a bad healing time at all (about the same time as my inner conch piercings), so I wouldn't mind that. I'm a fairly fast and easy healer, so we'll see how it all goes when I get it done. I plan to get my nipples done around Halloween with my best friend/roommate (yes, this is our idea together).

I don't recommend drink alcohol before any piercings that aren't cartilage.

Alcohol thins your blood and make you bleed way more than with out it.

Same with tattoos. Don't drink before getting it done.

+1 Aspirin is a blood thinner too, just a fyi.

And eat something within 4 hours of going to get it done.. a lot of reputable piercers ask when you last ate, mine handed me a lollipop to eat before he'd do my nosering!.. apparently, it's very common for the act of getting pierced to suddenly and dramatically drop your blood sugar, and make you pass out!

But as for the pain, it's a sharp sudden jab then it's over, like ALL hollow-needle piercings. The second one shouldn't hurt any more than the first, unless you start freaking out. I have a ridiculously high tolerance for pain and I've never flinched or even blinked for a piercing... though my nose piercing inexplicably made my eyes suddenly pool and gush.. that made me laugh, actually.

What would you like to know, Candeh?

I'd love to know about healing time, how it felt when you got them done, what works best during healing (like some type of sea salt soaks ect), and you know things like sensitivity, ect. I guess just general things. 🙂

dial soap or antibacterial. move the ring through the hole as you clean it. the second will hurt more than the first. make sure the piercer evens the piercings. nothing worse than lop sided piercings.

The image of lopsided nipple piercings is hilarious to me.
