on the 5th of february, this girl from my school passed away. Some of the peoples i know from school knew her personally, just hope they're okae. She was walking home from school and she apparently got hit by a drunk driver. She was only 15 years old. I just wanted to share this with you guys to make you guys have second thoughts before drinking & driving, or just straight out drinking. Much love

How very very sad...and how difficult for the family and friends!! My (other) daughter is 15...I can only begin to imagine how her family must feel about losing their beautiful daughter because someone cannot control themselves!

If one must drink to excess...they should NOT drive! Even though the laws have become stricter...people do not learn!!!—
I am sorry...I have never understood...I never will...

And this whole concept of alcoholism as a disease is beyond me...
Labeling such an addiction as a disease only gives the offenders an 'excuse'...although, I admit...I do not fully understand being 'addicted' to alcohol either...

I have been around alcoholics...I understand they have this problem...I just do not understand why they do or why they can't control it or stop...perhaps I simply choose NOT to understand—

It is not that I never drink alcohol...but, I just think that it should be taken seriously! That taxis, designated drivers or whatever should be employed ,if necessary; or, do as I do, and milk a frozen margarita all night (with a water chaser) and still have a blast!!

everyone, thanks for your concern, and thats real sad morgan, i hope people actually start uh, being smart? and stop drinking and driving.

Star, i think people drink to escape sometimes, and i 'suppose' their life is somewhat 'bad' so they take it out on anything to just escape ya know? everyone wants to escape sometimes. BUT they're also doing something that actually might..actually PROBABLY will do some damage to someone else, such as death. Even if we try and tell them to stop, they're still going to do it, until something like this happens, which is hopefully a wake up call. But then... why waste a life just for this wake up call? jeez...

yeah i'm pretty sure it does affect throughout the school lawgoddess. most teenagers these days do a lotta s**t. they blaze up(weed), drop, drink, blah blah blah... the list goes on. Most of my friends drink too..but after this incident, i'm pretty sure they'll stop.

Star, unfortunately alcoholism is a desease. However it begins is irrelevant. It is an addiction much like smoking, drugs etc, but has serious adverse effects on the body. (Christ, that sounded like a lecture...wasn't meant too..I know you are aware of this too). But as far as responsibility goes, I am in agreement. If you are an alcoholic, you don't drive. Period. I am not sure of your state laws there, but here, alcohol is no longer and excuse, whether you are an alcoholic or a first time drinker. That is how it should be. To kill someone whilst drink driving is called manslaughter, and the punishments for that are severe.

Over the summer a boy I knew died in a car crash... I wasn't really good freinds with him, but a lot of people I know were... His birthday would be coming up at the end of the month, and my freind wants to hold him a birthday party in the graveyard. He asked me if I thought that the grave party was an odd idea, I told him no not really, if it will make you feel better. He said that a lot of people don't like it, and I told him a lot of people just prefer to move on... (not him ever UGH!)... Anyway what do all you guys think of a grave party?

Star, ditto to what LawGoddess said but also soemthing else. The sort of pain that a person goes through when going through alcohol withdrawel is more than you can imagine. It is the fear and the pain of withdrawel that prevents people from giving it up, no matter how much they want to. Seizures, delirium, shaking, nervousness, hallucination, nasea, fevers, and just about all the symptoms of the flu are what they have to look forward in withdrawel.
