What job "stress" specifically are you referring to?

Exercise, meditation, not acting on impulse. These are all things I try to keep in mind.
I find that people who act and react on impulse can cause a lot of problems for themselves.

@OP - your solution for better health sounds temporary and not long term to me. It's unrealistic to assume that you will never be in a stressful situation again. Right now you have no job and have physically eliminated the environment and people that caused you stress - but you haven't learned to be at peace while confronting a stressful situation. THAT is the big test. Will you falter again once you have a stressful situation? Or do you just decide to live in the middle of no where as a monk?
This is one of the reasons many people say going to India is a peaceful experience. It's not because you are in a peaceful environment - it's actually over-populated and filled with chaos, dirt and invites the most uncomfortable situations. No - it's because if you have peace WITHIN you will be able to be unaffected by your outer surroundings. India is literally the ultimate test to know how zen you actually are within!
Anyway... Those are my two cents in this subject. But, great topic!

The stress I was dealing with was from my managers putting stress on my I was doing work that wasn't part of my job description. If I didn't do it the work would never get done and when I said I wouldn't do it management would start making threats that they would fire me.
Many nights I couldn't sleep I always had work on my mind trying to solve problems, trying to deal with crap that never would get done. If I had a decision to be made it had to go through 4 managers before I could get a yes or no. I would get pissed off and do it myself without permission then I would get in butter.
Dealing with the BS I hated my job which in turn added to the stress I was sick and tired of beating my head against the wall. I would work hard to make things work smoothly in the department I worked in then management would screw things up and set things back.
Almost 99% of the employees that work at that corporation have never been self employed they've only worked for somebody else. I've always been self employed I know how to control and organize things management didn't like that. I didn't step on toes I stomped on them I would get so tree trunking pissed off my anger would boil over. I would kick the walls in my office or have a spaz I had to vent my anger.
Never have to deal with it again I will never go back to working in a situation like that way too dysfunctional too many in-experienced people in positions they shouldn't be in. Too frustrating for a guy like myself who is used to be in charge that can make decisions on the fly it is why I was self employed.click to expand

Yeah... You thinking you can "beat" chronic stress was just you giving more power and attention to you. All your focus was on it... Therefore creating more stress. Your focus should be on letting it go or not giving it power/ attention. Give your focus and attention to the positive and make it bigger and more powerful.

Sounds like a toxic environment. Was this a large corporation? Good management is often inversely proportional to size of the company IMHO.

Sounds like you can't be told what to do... I would have just fired you, but they probably didn't want to pay unemployment on you.. Good job, you did what they wanted and quit..

I thought I had done well cutting out the stress in my life in the last 4 weeks when my cortisol levels normalized I could literally see and feel the difference. I realize now even thou I cut a lot of the job stress out of my life it still cocked over the program.
I've had a good learning experience from the damaging affects of chronic stress I won't be repeating it again. The best way of dealing with chronic stress is walk away make a clean break if that means quitting your job do it. I tried handling the stress I was doing well the chronic stress was still there.
