Okay, so first of all I'm not a Simpsons fan.

I like my humour crude and borderline offensive ala Family Guy, South Park, Drawn Together and recently Ugly Americans (cool show, this, although not offensive or very crude, and more a subtle kind of funny).

Anyway, I been reading about The Simpsons not being funny anymore and so I decided to catch the first episode of the current season online and I gotta say it's a laugh-a-minute!

WTF man?!

Simpsons fans on here, what's not to like about these new episodes?!

Seriously.

I keep reading that it started to suck around season 10 but season 21 got me laughing.

I mean even cast members that provide voices complain about the show (according to wikipedia), but as a person who caught it here and there when I was young the show's template still seems the same (homer/bart/lisa/maggie/supporting cast member of your choosing gets into trouble and then gets out of it again).

Some people complain its traded in endearing moments for zany ones and focuses too much on celeb guests and product placement and that certain characters have sort of become shells of their former selves.

Fair enough.

But Come ON! Shouldn't the focus be on the followig question: DOES IT MAKE YOU LAUGH?

And what is up with the focus on realism anyway? Isn't the point of animated series sspension of reality?

Seriously, I prefered the episode where the Simpsons were put in a Japanese cell to the sexual harrassment one from years back.

But that's just me. Let's hear YOUR thoughts.

Oh and die hards (if there's any) don't let my, ahem, taste in comedy influence your post.

Way I see it if it gets you laughing (even in shock), it's all right by me.

So no "Family Guy SUCKS!!!" like them Youtubers lol

"You started out relating to Bart and landed up relating to Homer"

- Heard on the radio.

Intruiging. Are they trying to say that the show's plotlines at once daring and sweet (as Bart could be described) got as dumb and simple as Homer himself?

Or people just wanna feel through the characters and the new antics they get up to dn't allow that?

Because I'm a thinker and when I sit down to watch cmedy I'm looking to turn my brain to mush.

In other words I see these shows as distractions as opposed to, I dn't know, morality tales, and funny ones at that.

Ah well...
