For a lot of reasons.

- They are freaking expensive.
- You need a proper training to operate one. (Unless u are a paratrooper or some sort)
- U are most likely to die jumping 20-30 thousand feet above sea level without proper gear and protection in mid air.
- If u are lucky enough to survive number 3. Your chance of being drifted a shore and get eaten by sharks are highly possible. 😄

Do you think if a plane ever goes down... you could like bust open the door RIGHT at the last minute, just before it hits the ground and then jump off it?

Omg you don't even know how many times I thought about that.

Actually on an episode of MANSWERS they did a similar scenerio as the first picture above except in an elevator. And when you jump in a falling elevator at the last minute the momentum is still there and you will likely fall to your death on impact anyway. They said that in that situation you should compress yourself by laying flat on the ground to avoid back injury or leg injury. However, even that method is only safe and effective for up to 3 stories of height.

The only reason planes are the safest modes of transportation is because they crash the least amount of times statistically. However, every crash reported has been fatal in some way.

On an English show QI they suggested lying on the fattest person in the lift haha
