Hi,

I am brooding about what it means to have a live well lived. Or bad lived, i am sure all of us know both successes

and cautionary tales. But rather than list your defitnition describe a person and why you think they either are exemplary

of a life well lived or a cautionary tale.

Cautionary tale:

My grandfather was married but then made 7 children with the sister of his wife, who is my grandmother.

He did not write a will, so the son of his wife got everything and did not give my uncles anything out of spite.

They fought in court for decaded and he let the family estate rot until it was foreclosed.

That is a good lesson in how not to live a life. He inflicted on pain on at least 10 people for over 30 years over

a grudge.

My father is lonely because he never maintained friendships but he never stopped being loving towards children

and life itself. He does not mind dancing knowing he cant, in 25 years the only reaction to toddlers walkig by is

a hard face becoming incredibly soft and loving.

My ultimate Heroe is christopher Lee. He is a real life captain america. He was in special forces in WWII. He learned

acting by becoming a journey man learning his craft all over europe in shitty theaters. Is any actor doing that?

He lasted incredibly long, he played with a metal band even though he is intellectual.

He had done a lot more than horrormovies. If he partied and read and been a familyman then he has done it all.

Now your turn

Life well lived:

An intelligent man with mechanical aptitude went to a university for a technical degree. His tuition was being paid by dividends from stock investments. Then a depressiin hit, wiping him out. He went to work in a hardware store to make ends meet, met someone, and fell in love. They had several children and raised them, not having much, but their children never went without the necessities.

Obviously the man never realized his dream of a technical career. It stayed a regret for most of his life. He never complained, but did the best he could for his family.

During WW2, he was considered too valuable to the small town he lived in to enter the service--he was the guy always called to fix furnaces, electric, and plumbing among other things around town. He would be the one to run out in winter when that 2 am call came, or leaving the dinner table when needed.

His children grew up, one of them becoming a VP of a corporation, two others became successful professionals, another became a supervisor in a manufacturing plant, and one went to college and finished, but ended up getting married. All of them paying their own way or by grit rising up the ladder.

Most of the man's grandchildren went on to be successful professionals, including five in the technical professions he went to college for, but never finished. He passed away loved by his family.

Cautionary tale:

Hunter Biden. A crackhead who only had money because of who his father was. Who had an out of wedlock daughter who went through her young life unacknowledged, and even shunned, compared to the other grandkids. He contributed NOTHING to anyone. That tale is still unfolding.

I think it's all bad. Unless you believe in heaven or something. If that isn't the case the reality is you either die young, or try to be as healthy as possible so you can watch every single thing you love die in front of you. Though heaven does sound lovely. I would love to die and enter a reality my beloved dog is running towards me, and behind them is my entire family that died before me. That doesn't sound very realistic though does it? Truth be told we likely live this life and just die, then experiencing nothing else. At least then it doesn't matter. That outcome would be better then going to a white abyss and just thinking thoughts till the aspect of thinking thoughts melts from our drifting conscious. So what is a bad life? The fact you could even wallow in misery means you got to experience something, which is a good life imo.

This reminds me of something I recently came across.

Romance novelist Danielle Steel, who has penned more than 185 books and is worth an estimated $ 600 million, admits she spends 20 hours a day writing. Even with staff and nannies how did she have time in 4 hours a day to find 5 husbands and give birth to 7 children while I’m over here drowning with a 1 year old? 🤯

I honestly don’t know whether to be horrified or inspired. I’ve never read a book of hers, just randomly came across her existence. I’m kind of curious how well she writes.

i've read some while stuck in my scorp aunt's house as a bored teenager and my impression was that she writes fondly about the dramatic, luxurious lives of mostly female leads with their families and lovers.

it was either those or some ivanka trump romance book about ice skating and meeting some rich dude or whatever. it was some huge, pink hardcover too 😒😒

as for the OP, i feel like my MIL lived well. raised 8 kids properly. somehow i can't get over that. rough at times i'm sure but ultimately rewarding overall.

in contrast, i feel like my grandma lived well only for a short while but most of her life did the best she could to make literally everyone wanna burn bridges to get away from her. you reap what you sow.

just googled her and found out she's a leo lol that explains the glamorous and luxurious life style of her leads. most people reveal themselves in their writings unintentionally. like agatha christie with her poirot:

"I can only see the world as it should be. And when it is not the imperfection stands out like the nose in the middle of a face. It... it makes most of life unbearable, but it is useful in the detection of crime."

Yeah yikes that is totally to be expected of a Leo 😬 And I totally agree most people reveal themselves in their writings. Her real life story sounds more amusing to me than any of her books (she initially married some shitty guys simply because she didn’t want to sleep with them before marriage?). I’m surprised people are sooo into authors who basically sound the same in every book they release.

Is it a life living well. My mechanic my friends cousin. A Capricorn hard working investing a 100 time at work married three children which he supports. Wife stay at home doesn’t cook clean spends his money.so successful he’s opened 4 shops and rich. One son went to veteneranian school in the Bahamas. From the outside he’s got it going aside from the wife who does both thing as he has to come home n cook for himself. Five years ago his daughter overdosed. This 12/29 his other daughter 32 yr old nurse, just married two months died from a blood clot. Would one pick to that life to be rich if you knew your two daughters would die? Just sad for that man whose eye looked dead since the death of his 1st daughter can’t imagine now.
